The type of female connector u use shouldn't really matter as long as it has its 3 prongs, the real issue with something like this is getting the female connector sit in the cup nicely without looking like trash. The second thing is u have to have a plan on how your getting ur + and - over to...

xhowevermany on the 840's. There not boring at all unless ur listening to 64kbs mp3's then they can get anoying. I'd def. throw in a small amp with them though like a cmoy or e3/5.  

Finding the 701's under 250 new is about impossible if im not mistaken, used u might have a chance. Second problem with the 701's is that they'll need a nice amp to go with it which will cost around 200-250 by itself. Theres alot of praise for the shure 840's around, theres some others if...

So whens a review coming? :P I love my 840's but im not sure if i'd want to put the extra 100 out for the next upgrade. These would competing against stuff like the d2000's and similar stuff etc?

I wore my harx 700's to school everyday on the bus, they are pretty ugly. I wore my shure 840's (when i used to have them a few months ago but i recently bought another pair) in public too, only comments i get are that there big, makes the hipsters wearing there skull candy heshes look like...

The 240's are also open,  U can get a set of shure 840's used for around 100 (i picked up a pair of the fs section yesterday for 105), there on the more neut. side without killing all the fun.   

Not sure what u mean by bubble but if it is what I think it is, it's just the dust cap which really wont effect anything, same as a full size speaker that has its dust cap dented.

That reminds me, I was on the bus and I saw some guy on the street wearing some grados, I think they were 80i.

I'd sugest spending a little more and getting the shure 840's instead, there great unamped but would improve if u decided to upgrade with an amp later. They have more bass from what people say also I got mine for 115 used and for 95 dollars u could get something like m50's also great unamped.

x2 on the 840's I love mine Not the most bass heavy phones but very fun to listen to I like them with everything but if bass is a MAJOR MAJOR need id go for something like the djs or the dt770's.

Did u buy them used? the pads might not be t he origanles.
