Do I need to upsample?
Hi, I am using a Linear Phase Equaliser VST plugin. My output is coaxial SPDIF to a Yulong DA8 DAC which is capable of 32-bit 384 kHz playback. My audio files are mostly mp3's (44.1 kHz and 48 kHz) and some Red Book lossless files. I have read from here...- InCreD1Ble

How to sell audio equipment quickly?
Cheers for that. Sorry for asking so many questions (it's difficult to come across an experienced member on here :)), but I am selling my entire setup, you think it would be a good idea to make a listing for an entire bundle (or rather, is it a common thing to do?)?- InCreD1Ble

But if you just send money normally (no invoice), the only option is to "send as a gift", or am I wrong?- InCreD1Ble

Yeah, that's my current strategy, even though the starting price is quite low already (imo). May I ask you how you conduct transactions on Head-Fi? Is it through PayPal mainly?- InCreD1Ble

How to sell audio equipment quickly?
See that's what I am trying to do at the moment, I have a very similar price but without having the VAT emitted (£720). Item prices in the UK and the US are about 1:1 in dollar to GBP (meaning a $1000 headphones in the US would cost ~£1000 in the UK) For an american, £720 would be ~$935, which...- InCreD1Ble

How to sell audio equipment quickly?
Lowering the price for used items is common indeed, however, assume I bought an item for £1000 in the UK. Anywhere else it would cost approx. 20% less. So if I decided to sell it in a "used" condition, I would first have to drop the 20% of the original price and then drop it down by a further...- InCreD1Ble

How to sell audio equipment quickly?
Thank you for your input, the websites are certainly very useful. I had done some research and my price seems reasonable to me (atleast for now). UK applies the duty (3.5%) and the VAT tax (20%) on anything that has entered the mainland, so if you buy something from the UK and want to sell it...- InCreD1Ble

How to sell audio equipment quickly?
What I meant by that is that whatever you buy in the UK has already a 20% tax applied, so essentially if you are selling it anywhere outside the EU, you have to adhere with other countries prices to attract customers. For example, if I was to export anything to the US, I would have to lower my...- InCreD1Ble

How to sell audio equipment quickly?
Damn, that's a feat. I don't know how you managed to do that. I am aware of people on Ebay lowballing and abusing the buyer's protection policy, however time is my priority right now so I have to resort to lower prices. Any advice on how to sell here?- InCreD1Ble

Thank you for your insightful reply. It's really hard to let go one of your favourite "toys", especially for such low prices, but it seems like that's what I am gonna have to do. Do you know if it's worth trying to sell something as expensive as LCD-2 with 0 trader feedback on these forums?- InCreD1Ble

How to sell audio equipment quickly?
Hello everyone, I am in a situation where I have to sell my beloved audio equipment within a quite short period of time (1 month). I am currently trying to sell some equipment on these forums but as I have 0 trader feedback I think most people are trying to avoid me. The other reason could be...- InCreD1Ble

Thank you for your input. I still prefer the linear phase mode, it sounds much cleaner and less distorted than analogue or purely digital modes.- InCreD1Ble

Actually you are right. Most digital equalizers utilize Fourier Transforms to manipulate the waveforms. It's the limitations of Fourier theories used that introduce distortions in digital equalizers, however I must say the digital processing modes are much more transparent and distortion-free...- InCreD1Ble

That's a very interesting theory. There are a few questions that come to my mind however. I remember back in my signal theory lectures, learning about passive and active filters you could see how the ripples are directly derived from the capacitors and transistors used in those filter...- InCreD1Ble

I understand that, but what is the CAUSE for digital filters? I know the origin of these ripples and passive and active physical filters but not the digital ones that are used in EQ's.- InCreD1Ble

Ah I see, that makes sense. What causes the echoes though? The phase shifts? Also, don't parametric EQ's have echoes as well, for example it's quite prominent in linear phase EQ's.- InCreD1Ble

Oh yes, my bad! I was thinking of -3 dB which is a 50% decrease in power, +3 dB isn't the same. My bad :) Unrelated question, why do sharp peaks and troughs in EQ's are better to be avoided?- InCreD1Ble

+3 dB gain does increase the voltage by 41%, but that voltage is directly related to the power output, which in case of +3 dB boost is doubled. A 6 dB gain would double the voltage and quadruple the power. -3 dB gain would halve the power, reduce the voltage by ~29%, -6 dB gain would reduce the...- InCreD1Ble
