Etymotic ER-20 Question
Hey just wondering, how deep are they sposed to go? Deep enough so that I can only barely feel a little bit of the last flange sticking out when I run my finger down the length of the part of the plug that's sticking out? Or should some of the plug plastic body itself be going in as well (as in...- jaieger

Upgrading to Analytical Sound: Suggestions?
Hey all, So I'm looking to upgrade from my Nuforce NE-6 to something with a more analytical sound/emphasis on clarity and detail as opposed to midbass. More specifically, for my price range, I'm just looking at the Etymotic MC5 or the RE0. Can anyone tell me which one is more...- jaieger

Would you rather...
(I know this is kinda random xP) Have the best IEM in the world that's perfectly suited in terms of sound sig and comfort and all that to your wants out of an IEM, but you're only able to listen to music that you dislike, or have the poorest possible quality IEM with which you can listen to...- jaieger

Slightly OT: Going to first concert, hearing protection?
Hey all I was just wondering, I'm going to my first concert later in the summer (specifically, the Rockstar Uproar festival; hard rock/heavy metal bands). And everyone knows concerts are pretty loud and all, so I was wondering what sort, if any, of hearing protection should I bring? I've...- jaieger

Musings on IEM/headphone technology
Just wondering, and I've been wondering about this for a while: how do headphone makers manipulate the sound? How does the creator of any given headphone know what to manipulate - the drivers, the housing, etc., and how, to produce the desired effect (more/less bass, warm the sound up or...- jaieger

Terminology question
and yes, I've read the glossary in the full-sized section, but I'm still a bit unclear on afew things. What does speed mean, exactly? What would be the audible differences between a slower and a faster IEM? What's the staticy sound from high-pitched noises? Take the intros to...- jaieger

On the RE0
So I've been looking around alot, and even though my NE-6 have been serving me well, I'm having one of those impulse buy moments but figure I should post/ask around first. Anyways, the RE0s have piqued my interest because all of my past IEMs/headphones have had some sort of bass emphasis or...- jaieger

How do we know that "natural" 'phones are natural?
Alot of people describe neutral/balanced phones, be it IEMs or fuller-sized, to be natural-sounding and "what the artist intended it to sound like" Just musing, how do we know that? How do we know that, say, IEMs with more than neutral amounts of bass aren't the intended sound/aren't "natural"...- jaieger

Soundstage question
Hey, I was just wondering... when people talk about 'phones with awesome soundstage, they're often like, "it's like so-and-so band is right infront of me/in the room with me/etc.!" And while I do think neither of my gear is particularly lacking in spaciousness, I'm having some trouble...- jaieger

Cheap portable headphones for biking?
Hi all, I currently own the px100-iis and nuforce ne-6s. However, I'm starting to go biking more and more often (at least half of the week) and I'm wanting something I can listen to music through while biking - the px100s won't fit under my helmet, and iems in general won't work - i want to be...- jaieger

PX100-IIs
Do they have a kevlar-reinforced cable too? Which is what I read somewhere, forget if it was for the first gen, or these, or both. Asking because the cord seems a bit thin/cable reliefs kinda short, but if they are, and well ontop of reputable sennheiser quality, I'll rest much easier- jaieger

Is my cable paranoia justified?
I've had a bad history of cables dieing out on me; some people complain about the headphones themselves splitting, but's never happened to me before (cept when I stepped on the stock apple buds, but that doesn't count). Admittedly, said failed cables were with s---candy and similar brands, but...- jaieger

When I smile really wide, my IEM tips crinkle in my ear.
and this annoys me. LOL seriously speaking though, does this mean i should use smaller tips or something? but it sometimes happens with the smallest tips I have too, and it kinda bugs me, and if i had a good seal going, i get irritated and take it out and reinsert and then i feel like i lost the...- jaieger

Are Our Ears Symmetrical?
Cause with my IEMs, sometimes it feels like my left ear is more comfortable over longer periods of time than my right ear, which gets itchy now and then. Is it weird if I used different sized tips on my right ear? o:- jaieger

Where to buy Sennheiser PX 200-IIs in Canada?
Hi, just wondering: Where can I find sennheiser PX 200 IIs in Vancouver, Canada at a reasonable price? Online is okay, so long as there aren't absurd shipping fees. How Much do Sennheiser PX100iis leak?
I realize that they're open-back headphones, so they're going to inevitably leak and let in noise. However, is it so much so that use in say, libraries, would not be possible? Or is the sound leak not as prominent as that? I'm asking because I really really want to px200 iis, but nowhere can...- jaieger

Where do my headphones stand in the world of audiophilia?
So, after years of just using whatever headphones were at the local london drugs when my last pair broke down, I upgraded. I went iFrogz. in comparison to the $10 stuff before, I thought they were amazing. then I went skullcandy, which sounded about the same. And then I discovered head-fi, and...- jaieger

Headphone.com - headphone price/shipping costs
Are they more or less fixed? Just wondering, because the headphones I have an eye on are a pretty good deal right now, but I don't want to be spending money for a little bit, so I'm wondering if I should suck it up and be thrifty now or save up and be sad about a lost deal later. Same goes for...- jaieger

Am I hearing what I think I'm hearing?
I'm not sure where to put this, so for the sake of half-assedly making this on-topic, I'm using 2-week old Nuforce NE-6s. So, after looking at the file quality of the songs used in testings, I decided to overhaul some of my favorite songs on my ipod with better quality recordings. My song...- jaieger

Question to Nuforce NE-6/NE-7M Owners
So I just got mine in the mail today, oh my god do I love them. But that's not what my question is. Um...how do I remove the clip? LOL Because I generally wear my headphones inside my shirt, so it scratches/nudges me alot, and it's kind of annoying. Thanks! (:- jaieger

Most durable, bassy IEMs?
Very preferably sub-$100, and preferably something that can be bought in (Canadian/Vancouver) retail stores as opposed to ordering online (I'm too impatient for my own good ), what are your thoughts, any suggestions?
