    Headphone Sightings 2

Mostly just crappy JVC and Sony Buds. Not to mention a billion iBuds. I nearly cringed when I saw somebody with the Skullcrushers. Those things are some of the worst excuses for audio equipment I have ever heard.

Just saw someone with IE8 at school today, at least they looked like IE8 from a distance

Prizefight: Beats Solo vs. Bose On-Ear

Hahahaha, this is funny. 128kbps CD quality? Lol more like 1411kbps!

Help !!! Open or Closed headphones

If you plan to use your headphones anywhere outside of the house then closed are the way to go. The compromise is that the soundstage is reduced and not as open or "airy" sounding.

    why do people dislike itunes?

iTunes is good enough for me on a Mac. I just hate that it can't play FLAC natively. I have to use Max to convert them to WAV or AIFF. Plus, the default equalizer adds a boatload of distortion. Other than that, it fits my needs. I guess I'm just too lazy to find a replacement program.

    Looking for Canalphones/IEMs (sub-$70 USD)

I'd try the ADDIEM. They have a very well balanced sound. Not bass heavy, no sharp sibilance. Plus, they've got a mic and clicker.

Recommended IEMs for under 100 USD?

I'd say the ADDIEM. Dual Balanced Armature for $79 is an amazing deal. They are also fairly analytical.

    Bose AE - Overpriced?

I think that the Bose have pumped up bass and treble. Absolutely NO midrange. Not the best for rock music. They are comfortable and look snazzy, but NOT audiophile quality! I have the AE model. I just use them for around the house because of the comfort factor. my IEMs get uncomfortable after a...

    Bose everywhere!! BUT...

People just buy Bose because it is the best thing you can get at Bestbuy or Target.

Headphones you regretted buying the most

I regret the Bose In-ears. They don't block ANY noise. So annoying at school. They ARE comfortable though.

Who here is a high school audiophile?

This post totally describes me. Everyone at school accuses me of being "obsessed with headphones." The haters don't understand.

Help with a limited budget, please?

I think the 'i' means that it is slightly improved, but I'm not sure exactly what it is improving upon. SR60i are very good in a quiet environment, but don't plan to be using them outside. They leak noise like crazy. If you like IEM's, I'd try the ADDIEM. (Apple Duel Driver IEM)

    iPod Speaker Dock Recommendations?

The Kicker iK501 has a really strong and bassy sound. I personally use it because I listen to a lot of dance music. The thing really gets the job done and blows the Bose Sounddock out of the water in terms of power.

How much freq. do you hear? (20-20000)

I listened from a 2kHz to 20kHz. I made it to about 19kHz before the sound got very thin... However, I can hear very low bass. Around 15hz or so...

    “Beats by Dr. Dre”

These headphones seem like more "flashynes" than substance. The cool looks are sure to turn some heads. When I listened to them in best buy, the bass seemed to overpower everything. This could be good for hip-hip people that have no knowledge of a detailed sound.

Poll: Audible Difference between FLAC and 320kbps MP3?

It's really hard to tell the difference... It's probably because of my "less than audiophile" equipment. Unamped ADDIEM from Powerbook G4... Sounds good enough for my needs though.

    Which headphones/IEMs have turned heads

I saw someone wearing some HD555 in the hallway. That definitely turned my head. I've also seen some Beats By Dre. The 2 tone cord of the Bose In-Ear that I use sometimes gets a lot of looks.

Headphones you regretted buying the most

I regret buying the Bose In-Ears. They are very comfortable, but they let in a lot of noise, and thats not good for using at school. Plus, the sound is still way bassy and muddy, even after 20 hours of Pink Noise burn in.

    What's so bad about Bose?

I think old people like Bose so much because it performs better at low volumes. Piercing highs and a ton of midbass in my friend's QC2. I used to like the Bose sound, until I started listening to some flat sounding 'phones. Now, the Bose sounds kinda unnatural.

    What's your worst music file?

I've got a 32kbs file downloaded from Youtube. I pretty much never listen to it because it sounds so swashy. For fun I also encoded a Flac at varying degrees of quality 32, 64, 128, 256, 320. Just to see how far I could go before I couldn't tell a difference between the FLAC. The difference...

    B&W P5 Headphones - "Coming Soon"

Jeez, I heard that they would be releasing these in January, but here comes March and they still aren't out yet. I wonder how they will compare with similar offerings from Senn. and Grado.

Apple IEM - most underrated IEMs on the market

I do agree that the tips suck. I've had my ADDIEM for a few months now and have been reluctant to use them at school because they keep falling out. However, I just received some Comply tips in the mail. What a difference! They are much more secure now! I am really liking the sound of the ADDIEM...

    Headphone Sightings 2

Hey, I'm new to Head-Fi, so I thought this would be a good post to get started on. At my school, I see a lot of terrible iBuds and a lot of Skullcandy, JVC, etc... There are a few Bose In-Ear and Beats by Dre tour headphones too. I've also seen 2 people with Bose QC15. The most...
