IEM for metal music and hard rock - ultimate solution
I'm really liking the Aful Performer 8. Not the most amount of bass, but very detailed and I like the soundstage. I listen mostly to bands like Opeth, Lorna Shore, In Flames, Avatar, Meshuggah. Then again, I dont have lots of experience with other IEM's. My previous was Westone UM2-RC- pimmedoris

Looking for a new set of iems and DAP
Wow, thanks a lot for the great and elaborate explanation! I will need to dig into those graphs a bit better, but that's a cool tool. I can't seem to get multiple iem's in one graph to better compare? Or am I missing something? Of course plotting and comparing the graphs from different...- pimmedoris

Looking for a new set of iems and DAP
Exactly. That's why I find it hard to make a decision, lol. Blessing 3 may be interesting. I'll read some reviews and see where I can order it. I dont mind if it's different from my um2rc's, but what do you mean with "hot in the gain region"? I have to look into those graphs and how they...- pimmedoris

Looking for a new set of iems and DAP
Have you also tried more expensive iem's? I sometimes see some very cheating iem's wilt multiple BA's and a DD for about 60€, and I really have my doubts if an earphone with that complexity at such a low price can be any good in sound and robustness. But I could be completely wrong of course...- pimmedoris

The cable of my iems is starting to have some issues, and I'm looking to upgrade my dap to one with wifi and overall better SQ. I'm mostly...- pimmedoris

...and here's the pictures! Here the connections on my headphones are still wrong though :) Very nice craftsmanship! Cable looks really nice and feels very sturdy. I can't say anything on the sound yet, as it will need some playtime and I just got a new headphone amp that also needs some time...- pimmedoris

Yay! My 3m Claire HPC Mk2 for my Hifiman HE400i has arrived! One quick question though... How do I know which is the left connection and which is the right? One connection has a green "A" in the FAW logo, is that left or right? I will post pictures later, don't worry :P- pimmedoris

Hi Matthew, Thanks for the update! The delay is two weeks? I ordered my cable October 30th (3m Claire HPC Mk2). Can I expect my cable around 27th of November then (4 weeks total)? Just to get an idea when I can expect my order :) Thanks!- pimmedoris

Price of Silver vs. Copper
Thanks for your reply. I was planning to go with silver since I like the look of it better. On paper, I like the sound proporties of silver better than of copper, but I am not so sure if I will be able to hear the difference... Is solid core more difficult to solder than 'normal' wire? Is the...- pimmedoris

Price of Silver vs. Copper
I'm planning on building a LOD for my iPod. I was thinking of using silver wire. For the connectors and cables I was planning on buying from Qables.com. Since I'm from the Netherlands it seems the easiest to buy from a dutch webshop. (Other tips are welcome off course) I was expecting that...- pimmedoris

What is the best way to connect my iPod to my receiver?
So you mean to ditch the iPod completely and just use the computer? Yeah, I guess that's also an option... Although I really like the i20. Very nice price and SQ seems decent. I'll have to check the availability in the Netherlands though...- pimmedoris

What is the best way to connect my iPod to my receiver?
At home I have two Monitor Audio RX6 speakers hooked up to a Marants SR5005 receiver. When I want to listen to music from my iPod, currently I use the cable that came with the iPod and connect it to the USB port on the receiver. Would I get a better sound if I used something like...- pimmedoris

new IEM (mostly) for metal: TF10? UM2? others?
Just kicking this one up. No need for a new topic. If I want to import from, let's say, Amazon. What are the extra costs I would have to take into account? Further, on Ebay I see companies from Honk Kong or Singapore offering Westone's. Are these shops legit? I wonder since Westone...- pimmedoris

Looking for something like the DBA-02s but with more low end bass and sub-bass
@mvw2: Nice explanation! How would the Westone UM2 fit in with these IEM's? I'm leaning towards this earphone and I seem to have about the same requirements as the TS. Coming from Shure SCL2 though.- pimmedoris

How do you notice if a IEM is hard to drive? You have to turn up the volume knob on the player for the same volume from the IEM?- pimmedoris

new IEM (mostly) for metal: TF10? UM2? others?
Thanks for the tip. I'll read some reviews on these IEM's. I see the DBA-02 have a sensistivity of 108dB and a impedance of 43Ohm, compared to 119 and 27 for the UM2 and 117 and 32 for the TF10's. I am not a sound engineer, so what do these differences tell me? @Negakinu: I see you are...- pimmedoris

new IEM (mostly) for metal: TF10? UM2? others?
Trying them out will be bit of a problem. I'm not sure if I can find a (real life) shop that sells the TF10 in Eindhoven where I live. I also would not be able to try out the UM2's. I did find a dutch webshop that sells them for 199 Euro's which is much cheaper than what I found in other...- pimmedoris
