Icon HDP + Icon Amp or Icon-2?
My setup at home consists of active speakers headphones and multi source. If yours match, and you want nuforce product, all you need is the HDP. The RCA out to your active speakers are controlled by the volume pot and it has a headphone amp/dac. It is also a pre amp too. Minimum setup and cost...- slowpoke

Udac-2
I just want to clarify that my copy of the udac2 does not have imbalance on regular listening levels driving px100 as well as grado sr225. It does have imbalance but that is to almost off position. I do not listen at that level. With my setup, both system and player volume is at max.- slowpoke

Udac-2
Quote: I think, by setting the volume on both PC and whatever audio player on the pc to max, you are outputing full res. However, depending on your copy of the udac2, you may not be able to turn the volume enough to avoid channel imbalance. if that's the case, you may have to lower...- slowpoke

Icon HDP + WASAPI (foobar) help!
Quote: as a new user, I noticed the same thing. Not so much the sound stage, but just overall sound in general. Just seems "flatter". I am making the assumption that it is just the way my computer's amp is not as true and that the wasapi is "truer" to the music. At least that is what...- slowpoke

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: NEW Nuforce uDAC-2 with 24/96 - USB DAC AMP with line out and S/PDIF out
Quote: Hey, Thanks for providing the tracks. I have been looking into something like this so I can have a better understanding on sound. But, I am having trouble playing the 20hz - 22hz (track 17) through foobar. It comes up with this: Unrecoverable playback error: Unsupported...- slowpoke

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: NEW Nuforce uDAC-2 with 24/96 - USB DAC AMP with line out and S/PDIF out
Quote: which OS? Like I said, my dell desktop at work the HO isn't so bad. udac2 made a difference for sure even with my very easy to drive PX100. But, I am not surprised that some can't tell the difference at all. For the PX100, it is definitley subtle: thumper bass slightly...- slowpoke

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: NEW Nuforce uDAC-2 with 24/96 - USB DAC AMP with line out and S/PDIF out
All, Out of curiosity, I got a HDP to compare. I got the udac2 for work. I liked it enough I was going to get another for home but decided to see if it is worth going with the HDP. I know from reading posts that I can achieve better sound pairing my existing udac2 with some sort of...- slowpoke

USB-powered amp/DA @ around $150?
I only have the udac2 and just got a HDP. My office mate has a E9 (not E7 just E9). I am not a "audiophile" - I just like to listen to music. My opinion may not be valid. But for the budget, get the E9 for sure. I drive HD580 through udac2, it is just a hair thin compared to the E9. E9...- slowpoke

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: NEW Nuforce uDAC-2 with 24/96 - USB DAC AMP with line out and S/PDIF out
Quote: I currently own the udac2. I am not familiar with udac1. If you keep both spif out(what w7 calls the udac2 usb out) and foobar at 100% in w7, just make sure you can play at minimum volume of at least 9 oclock position on the udac2 to avoid channel imbalance. I don't want to get...- slowpoke

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: NEW Nuforce uDAC-2 with 24/96 - USB DAC AMP with line out and S/PDIF out
Quote: W7 volume still functions. Foobar volume works as well. All volume controls works. You have the choice of setting volume on the computer or volume on the udac2 or a combination of both. You can do this to avoid the channel imbalance on low volume on the udac2.- slowpoke

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: NEW Nuforce uDAC-2 with 24/96 - USB DAC AMP with line out and S/PDIF out
Hi, I am rejoining the headphone world after years of absence due to life. I started out with just AMPs on regular CD players since back in the days, computer based audio is not as sophisticated as today. I finally have enough digital collection at work that I wanted better solution than...- slowpoke
