I'm relatively new to head-fi, and after buying some nice headphones I'm looking at an amp. I don't know if I would want a portable or dedicated home amp. Would I be able to hear an audible difference between a used portable amp/dac and a home amp/dac of the same price? Sorry for the beginners...

Hey, I was wondering if anyone has tried to do the ALO mod at home with HFI 780s. As a poor college student, I can't afford the mod, but would love to put some time into doing it myself. If no ones done that, has anyone at least removed the diode board on their own? Thanks!

I'm looking at many different LODs for my ipod. I have three choices: One is a basic adapter for $10, another a silver plated copper for $25, and the third pure copper for $40. Is there really a noticable sound difference between these three? I really need help from an LOD expert! IPOD...

Hi! I'll be a new audiophile (soon hopefully) but I need some help with equipment. I have $200 and a pair of koss portapros. Should I pair the portapros with a DAC, or upgrade my headphones? I'll mostly be listening to music through my ipod or computer.

I'm looking at the ibasso amp/dac combos, but i'm very new to the whole idea of amps. Does the ibasso utilize both the amp and dac while attached to a portable player like an ipod? If not, is there a product that does?

I'm new to head-fi, and was wondering if anyone has tried this: Would it be possible to take a line out w/ usb from the ipod's 30 pin connector, connect the usb to a total bithead, and the bithead to headphones and get dac quality from an ipod? I'm not very knowlegeable in amps or dac, so...
