The Great Grado Experiment (4 tonewoods tested, more to come!)
Quote: That is very interesting, and I am happy to hear it, just gives me more motivation to eventually learn to make my own cups. Ah yeah, I understand that would be a lot of hassle. And doing it from memory purely is very much objective. It's fantastic that the drivers are all the...- Alphamega

The Great Grado Experiment (4 tonewoods tested, more to come!)
How about the comparison from stock to each wood respectively? I'm interested on how the wood actually changes the sound. But yeah, like you say, a comparison between those cans would be totally unfair. This thread really has me wanting to learn how to make my own wooden cups! Another note...- Alphamega

The Great Grado Experiment (4 tonewoods tested, more to come!)
I'm looking forward to your reviews. Yeah the Walnut does look fantastic, and judging from Jeffs reviews also sound fantastic. I have been reading about wooden custom cans all night and I am thinking that I should look into getting a woodworking hobby when I am back in the UK, looks like it...- Alphamega

The Great Grado Experiment (4 tonewoods tested, more to come!)
Loving this thread, never really taken any notice of the modification scene, but I was interested in perhaps purchasing some Grado SR-80i's and saw this thread. The impact the different woods have had have got me thinking that I would like to get some wooden cups built for me in the future. Also...- Alphamega

Compare any of these Headphones for me please (M-Audio Q40, Somic HD MH463, Denon AH-D1100, Audio-Technica ATH-M50, Onkyo ES-HF300, Philips CityScape Uptown, Sennheiser HD-558, HD-439 and HD-518)
As the title says, If anyone could make a comparison between any of those headphones would be great, particularly interested in soundstage and bass levels, but everything else is of interest as well. Thanks The headphones are M-Audio Q40, Somic HD-MH463, Denon AH-D1100, Audio Technica...- Alphamega

Headphone Purchase Advice (<$160)
Sorry but I am gonna bump this. Been looking all day, and without direct comparisons which I can't find, it is impossible to tell if any of the headphones are what I am looking for. So far I have come short-listed: Somic HD MH463, Sennheiser HD-558, Denon AH-D1100, Sennheiser HD 439...- Alphamega

Headphone Purchase Advice (<$160)
So I ended up buying some M-Audio Q40's which were great, I loved them a lot. I however have travelled to Singapore for the year and I couldn't get them in my suitcase. I tried to look for some headphones in the price range of around $160 as some replacements but I am having difficulty finding...- Alphamega

Headphone Purchase Advice (<$160)
Thanks for the hep guys. @Metalicca, I am very tempted to, but also with this discount (the company my friend works for is a partner company, so that is where he gets the discount from) I could get the Pro's or Studio's if they are significantly better, I am also more interested in over-ear...- Alphamega

Headphone Purchase Advice (<$160)
So I've been a big In-ear fan for a few years, gotten a lot of different earphones on the lower end of the price range which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I recently lost my pair of MEElec SP51's which I loved, so I decided I needed to buy some new earphones. I happened to have a listen to a pair...- Alphamega

Audio Fischer Tau or Meelectronics M6
I have a pair of M6's, they are excellent for public transport, and they take a very long time to break. I would definitely recommend them for abuse.- Alphamega

WARNING: Fake IE8s! Comparison pictures included!!
Damn that sucks, the same happened to me with a pair of IE7's. But after I opened a claim on eBay, the guy sent me my money back. So I took apart the headphones and to no surprise found some cheap crappy mini-speakers in the headphones. Hope you get your refund.- Alphamega

In need of Guidance
I recently broke my pair of IE7s, which really sucks. Which leaves me with a opening for a new pair of earphones. But I have one major problem, I only have £35 ($55). Are there any earphones I could get that are even comparable to the IE7's, because I really need a new pair and don't want to...- Alphamega
