    The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread

So far I've only had mine for just over a week.  So far they have sounded fantastic with every genre I have thrown at them.  I can't wait to start making upgrades to the chain to get the most out of them.   I think the Bryston Headphone amp is my next purchase.

I'm going to try to be there. I'll bring my HD800s and Peachtree Nova. My Denon's just went to go live with a great friend of mine in NY.

Quote: It has a lot to do with your reviews...   I've never heard it, but like the Bryston brand in general, doubt I'll be disappointed.   I use their dac and preamp on one of the systems at work and love them.

Still breaking my new pair in 208XX. I know these are the cans for me. Next will be upgrading the chain. I like my integrated unit because I like speakers and simplicity. However thinking of the Bryston headphone amp next haha

Bass-Basshead Headphones with detail, ear massage, midbass/subbass?

Lets not all get our panties bunched up.   I've read a few responses from Mal that sounded a bit harsh.  I even called him out on it once,  then I've come to realize that is just how he speaks, he doesn't sugar coat a damn thing.   Overall every response seems to be pertaining to the thread at...

I switched over to Cans from IEMs........... you???

I've never gone the custom IEM route, but I agree, with my funky ears, I could never get a perfect fit that would stay comfortable for me.

    Denon D2000/D5000, MD2000/MD5000 Thread!

l You could always start with a partial mod. Dampen the frame, but don't dampen the cups. The angle pads also help with soundstage and won't effect the woods resonance.

Show us your Head-Fi station at it's current state. No old pictures please...

Didn't know that stand existed. It's in stock at several of my local stores. Going to have to grab a few.

HD598 vs HD600 vs HD 650 in terms of hiphop/rap.

I'd go with the hd650 for rap

    Denon D2000/D5000, MD2000/MD5000 Thread!

To the person that liked the bass of his Denons but wanted better soundstage. Get some angle pads! Either Lawton or Jmoney

    Denon D2000/D5000, MD2000/MD5000 Thread!

The drivers in the d2000 and d5000 are he same. If you change the cups to lawton cups why start with the more expensive d5000. I bought my d5000 at dealer cost and didn't know if I was going to mod them. In retrospect wish I had bought the d2000 and the better Lawton cups. Don't get me wrong...

    Denon D2000/D5000, MD2000/MD5000 Thread!

I did the Lawton mod myself. It was easy to do. I did buy the JMoney pads though.

    Denon D2000/D5000, MD2000/MD5000 Thread!

I'd skip buying the d5000s and get Lawton to mod your d2000s.

Upgrade from or to my Denon D5000

I say buy JMoney pads at minimum. You could buy the dynamat and start by damping the cups on your d5000s yourself. Total Out of pocket would be less than $100. In my opinion it makes the denon's a truly great headphone. ( I'm obviously biased ;) )

Upgrade from or to my Denon D5000

I agree an amp and dac wouldn't be a huge upgrade. Might get flamed here but I think they are easy to drive.

Upgrade from or to my Denon D5000

The angle pads improve soundstage. The damping tightens up the bottom end.

+1 on the Lawton mod.  If you like your D5000s, I can't recommend the mod enough!
