Out Of Your Head - new virtual surround simulator

Just thought I would bump the thread - anyone tried OOYH with Win11 or the latest Win10 updates? Is the workaround still needed - or does it work on its own? Thanks

Out Of Your Head - new virtual surround simulator

Has anyone tried Windows 11 with OOYH? It would be good to know whether the bug is still there with Win11 or whether the Windows update gets rid of it.

    The Stax Thread III

I thought one could get an idea of whether the Bias is in the right ballpark by measuring between Ground and the final 5M load resistor (ie not at the headphone pinouts)?   I am trying to both check the Bias and adjust the unit to run on 240V as it is a 100V only Vintage Japanese SRD7. - It is...

have you heard of the Art headtap amp?

The only negative with low imp. HP's is that with some amps the background noise becomes audible. ( hiss) The better the amp, the less likely the problem. It was not an issue with ky quad amps.

    The Stax Thread III

Hi Folks,   how do I measure the bias voltage at the output of my SRD box?   A Standar multimeter ? set to DC? between which pins?     Also what happens if you run a pair of ELS headphones at too high or too low a bias voltage?   thanks

    The Stax Thread III

Thanks Joachim,   I have that schematic - but the circuit board in here does not look like that schematic.   It looks a lot more like the SRD5 schematic with the 50k resistor on the power input (with a switch which replaces the 50k with a 250k to switch from 100V to 240V... on the SRD5, the...

    The Stax Thread III

Hi Folks,   I have an SRD7 - which is not working...   It appears to have 3 resistors that have been  cut in half (!) - 51k, 100k, 1M - and it is therefore delivering no bias.   It is an early 100V only unit - all the circuit diagrams I have found are for the later multi-voltage units  ...

    M-Audio 2496 sound card, do I need a DAC?

I retired my 2496 when the input failed....   However the replacement for my 2496 (an e-Mu 1616m) made me go Ahaha    The 2496 is just not quite transparent - if I recorded a good analogue source (Vinyl), and played it back, it did not sound quite the same - difference was subtle - but...

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

Hi Folks,   my mid 80's DT880's (Revox 3200)  have started losing a channel after my 1 year old discovered "magic curly cable" (toddler crack a friend called it!)....   I have been really happy with these HP's for years - and like the original curly cable, but have no idea where I could...

Thank you Ali-Pasha ,   Yes I knew about audiocubes, I was hoping there might be an alternative to the pleather ones (velour?, something that doesn't cause sweaty ears?) - but apparently not.   Back on the topic of the SRD7, It arrived this morning  - but there is a problem.....   Someone...

    The Stax Thread III

Hi Folks,   looking for some help from the communal Stax braintrust....   I have picked up a set of SR-Xmk3, and have an SRD7 on its way to me....  (this will be my intro to Earspeakers)   Two things are immediately apparent    1) the SRX needs new pads - what are my options? Any options...

    Stax SRD-7 transformer box question

Hi folks,   I have an SRD7 (unknown vintage) on the way to me from Japan...   Just wondering how I can tell whether it is multi-voltage or 100/110V only...    I believe that some of the jp units were labeled only 100V but were in fact multi-voltage.   Any help appreciated   thanks  ...

headphone recabling options in Australia... anyone know??? (ah-d2000)

Another bump on the thread....   My own Revox 3100 (80's DT880 beyer OEM) has started having cable issues....    No one actually ended up posting results in the search for a recabler!!

Out Of Your Head - new virtual surround simulator

Hi folks,   I have been following the Smyth Realiser and other such solutions for years, then I stumbled on this thread a few weeks ago.   This led to my trying and buying OOYH.   I did have quite a series of issues with the DRM, however Darin Fong helped out repeatedly until we had it...

have you heard of the Art headtap amp?

Totally agree - my experience of the Headtap was that it handled everything in the way of HP's, and was transparent allowing the speaker amp's character to shine through quite clearly.   Power is never an issue.... neither is voltage - so the type of HP's is irrelevant.   The cables and...

I have a set of Vintage Revox 3100's for which I need at least 1 new driver...   They were OEM Beyer DT880Pro's from the mid 1980's (first generation DT880's)   Does anyone know where I can get drivers for these at a reasonable price?   thanks   David

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.

The M-Stage is direct connected to my 1616m DAC ADC....   I usually listen to stuff from my server flac library....  the Turntable is present as part of my exercise of digitising the vinyl parts of the library - before getting heavily into digitising, I first launched into a research project...

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

Hi folks   just took a multimeter to my 80's vintage DT880/600 (revox 3100)   One channel measure 590ohm (good) the other measures 1150ohm (what the heck!?!?)   Any suggestions on what I should look at/for?   thanks David

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

I believe it puts out about 200mW into 300Ohm - these being the specs for the Lehmann Black Cube Linear of which the Matrix M-Stage is a close relative (almost but not quite a clone)   That would be around 100mW into 600ohm - no idea whether it has sufficient voltage to drive the HP's...
