I agree about the "even trashed vinyl sounds better". I have a nearly 25 year old copy of London Calling that has spent decades in a basement. It's in terrible physical condition, but aside from some pops during play, I still feel it sounds superior to the remastered CD version they have out now.

John Vanderslice is definately an audiophile. His albums do sound great, as does must other stuff recorded in his own studio . Just check out the recording equipment he has set up there.
