    Review : AUDINST HUD-MX1 DAC/amp - a promising newcomer (compared to Audio-gd FUN, AMB Gamma2)

Quote: Ok, I just tried them all. The difference for me was that in step 4, there were crackling noise and low volume for a couple of seconds, but everything gradually went back to normal without noise. However, just to make sure, after that I stopped playback, unplugged everything, and...

    Review : AUDINST HUD-MX1 DAC/amp - a promising newcomer (compared to Audio-gd FUN, AMB Gamma2)

Quote: I asked you sometimes ago if you have tried your mx1 with other computer? other usb ports (particularly the ones at the back as they provide full current)? different usb cable? I think this will help you to know whether or not the mx1 is defective.

    Review : AUDINST HUD-MX1 DAC/amp - a promising newcomer (compared to Audio-gd FUN, AMB Gamma2)

Quote:   I meant quiet as outputting crystal clear sound, and since mine always sounds good from the very first I don't think burn in will solve the problem..   So have you tried it with any other computer?

    Review : AUDINST HUD-MX1 DAC/amp - a promising newcomer (compared to Audio-gd FUN, AMB Gamma2)

In my opinion something is definitely wrong, my mx1 is totally quiet, clear, and doesn't sound like how you described yours. I don't have the capacity to comment on what went wrong, but have you tried it with any other computer? how about contacting Audinst? Where did you get your mx1 from?

    Review: Audinst HUD-mx1 USB DAC/amp

I'm in Sydney, Australia. I ordered mine on Friday 17 September, was already around 4.30pm in Korea so they shipped it the next day (Saturday 18 September), and I received it on Tuesday 21 September. That's pretty quick actually.

The Audio Technica M50 studio monitor thread

Quote:   At the moment I've got a bit of dampening inside the cups, have removed the felt plugs (as seen here) and stuffed the pads a little bit. I tried the "balance mod" here, but did not sound right to me.

    Review: Audinst HUD-mx1 USB DAC/amp

Quote: Actually out of curiosity I just bought one and paid immediately using credit card via paypal, sent a message to them asking if somehow they would be able to ship it on Friday (it was around 4.30pm on Friday the 18th and post offices close at 6pm in Korea I believe), and they...

JVC/Victor FX700 - The Successor (early Easter Bunny brought something very nice!)

Quote: Hmm I'm not sure about that one as I didn't experience it, but I'm thinking it's more like processing or memory problems with your laptop and definitely not your FX700s.   If I were you I would highly consider trying an external soundcard/DAC just like I did, they should also...

JVC/Victor FX700 - The Successor (early Easter Bunny brought something very nice!)

Quote: I used to experience that too with my FX700s plugged directly to my macbook pro's output. Sometimes it sounded like that robotic beep-beep sound (imagine R2D2 sound from star wars), beside constant background hiss. The noises were not loud but noticeable (not with my IE8s), and...

JVC/Victor FX700 - The Successor (early Easter Bunny brought something very nice!)

I received my pair of FX700s today , and overall, I'm happy. I might be simplifying too much, but from initial impression, in my opinion the FX700s with fake Sony EX tips' sound signature is very similar to my IE8s with the same tips except with less upper bass hump, more controlled bass...

Haha it's almost 2am in Sydney and I just bought a pair from Seyo.. Hope I made the right decision as it's difficult for me to choose between these or the Coppers to complement or even replace my IE8..

@average joe & javajive many thanks to both of you for the insights! I am fully aware of the mid to upper bass emphasize on the IE8 although I can live with it and in fact I love my IE8 in overall (I auditioned W3, SE530 & normal Turbines and personally still prefer the IE8), but also...
