Probably the safe bet, I just ran what I assume is the same bass test (first link off google) and no rattle both amped and out of my MBP.

The Denons are some of the most comfortable and light headphones I've ever had. I would find it hard to believe that it is a pressure issue. If it's also not a volume issue, I would have to ask is it only Denons? If you are listening hours at a time it could just be the listening itself.

I'm gonna have to go with the group here and say go with the shotgun. Shooting with my Dad is great bonding time. You can always get the cans later, plus something even better may have come out by then if you can hold off the urge to upgrade :P

The $200 Denons are a great deal and I would say jump on it, but the E5 just wont cut it amp wise. A solid amp really is necessary to get the very best out of the Denons.
