I need more recommendations for headphones around 300. I want headphones that will improve greatly in sound coming out of a 300+ dollar PPA. I want more forward phones like the Grados, but with a little less brightness.

My dad has one, and I was wondering if you think it would make a decent headphone source.

Are the Senns really that bad at reproducing Metal/Rock? Would a PPA with 8610's on both channels help at all, or are they just that way and only that way.

I have ER4P for travel, I need some home phones. I would prefer a sound slightly different from the ER4s just because paying 300 for the same sound would be pretty stupid.

Morningrise and Orchid are definitely the best of Opeth musically. There is really no comparison between those two and the rest of the music. They really need to revisit the dueling guitars.

Would a CMoy with a OPA2132PA be able to make ER4S sound better through a Zen Xtra than the ER4P's sound straight from the zen? I've heard that the OPA2132PA isn't the greatest, and the CMoy parts seem a little cheap. Is the MINT sound quality a big step up?

My dad already has all kinds of tools necessary for this. I was already planning on making a cmoy amp first for my portable to power my ER4P which will be converted to an S. The 150 amp is for home use and will be my senior project along with making my own mini to mini connectors for it.

That's the thing though, I don't want a pair of headphones for home use. I just want them for use with my portable. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the ER-4Ps because I can't stand noise leakage.

What about the ER-4Ps? I really don't care about badly produced black metal. The kind I listen to is pretty good quality.

I listen to metal. Death, black, progressive, just about anything but the poser types (aka nu-metal). My source is a Zen Xtra 30GB. I just saw the ER-4S, and they look awesome! Any comments?
