How many songs do you have in your music library?

    525. FLAC. I had a crazy episode and deleted my entire collection about a month ago. Was 19,000 tracks, all FLAC. Now I get to start fresh and do things properly. Until I realize IT'S ALL WRONG and my brain explodes. Currently going through my small CD collection and ripping them again.

Question about cheap CD's from china

It's counterfeit. I bought some counterfeit anime soundtracks and the quality was hit or miss. Overall most of them were great. Sounded perfect and most of the time the booklets were really good. Sometimes the booklets looked cheap but not awful and only 2 of the soundtracks I bought had...

What is the best format for digital music?

16/44.1 FLAC. No need for anything higher (for playback). +ReplayGain on the whole music collection is nice.

    Foobar2000 with Replaygain...What do I do?

Track gain is always given when scanning and is the same regardless of how you scan.

    Foobar2000 with Replaygain...What do I do?

Track Gain: increases or decreases the volume of that track to on average 89 dB. All tracks will be at about the same loudness. Album Gain: increases or decreases the volume of the album to be on average 89 dB. This allows quiet tracks on the album to remain quieter than the loud tracks on the...

Poll: Can you hear sound over 20kHz?

Or the annoying high pitched noise is annoying. Something doesn't need to be loud for it to cause a headache...

Like Metal, but don't like the cookie monster death vocals? ...Have you listened to Opeth?

I don't like the growly metal either. For the most part I don't like vocals with metal at all, it rarely works for me. That's why I listen to instrumental metal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHAUQNTwYZo

BLIND TEST: 128kbps mp3 vs Lossless

Pretty easy at first out of my tablet and (crap) Sony buds. B was just fuller. After awhile though they both started sounding the same. Got it right without reading any comments but I doubt I could tell the different between even 256 & lossless, at least with my current gear.

lossy audio codec comparison photos and sound clips

There's a very old thread like this one. JPGs were used but it doesn't really matter except on the highest bitrate lossy encodes.

Poll: Can you hear sound over 20kHz?

Using a sine generator I could hear 22 kHz. That was as high as it would go but that seems wrong. That ringtone test I heard up to 19 kHz, the same I could hear on an MP3 I downloaded off a different site. Male, 21.

Question about audio quality on youtube

240p sounds pretty awesome for some chiptunes. You'd have to look at a spectrogram using a program like this: http://spectro.enpts.com/index.php I imagine YouTube quality would be so bad that most high frequencies will be completely gone. Transcoding it to lossy again will just kill the...

Can the media player affect sound fidelity?

Playing the same file in two different players should yield the same results as long as they're both in exclusive mode (WASAPI, ASIO, etc.), not EQ'd or using DSPs, and the decoders are implemented correctly.

    Post Your Photography Here #2

I just used my camera's 10 second timer. On a different note, this is something I took with my Olympus XZ-1: (grain added for effect)

    Post Your Photography Here #2

Quote:   I also made some attempts.       Taken from Bangkok.  Canon 20D with an 18-200 mm lens on a crappy tripod.  Took maybe 25-30 shots but only those 2 came out passable.  Lens isn't long enough and the tripod wasn't stable enough.

What was the largest amount of computer information you deleted by accident?

Couple hundred photos from my trip to Japan.  I was reformatting my HDD and these were the only pictures in the "My Pictures" folder.  I forgot about them.   There were my very first photos too (not counting the **** I took as a kid).

    What's your foobar2000 setup?

Quote:   Started with this.  Tweaked numbers to see what they did, crashing foobar several times.  Ended up with this.  Pretty sure I removed the lines that controlled the sharpness of the edges but on that first link's pastebin it might be the top of the section 'float RMSfactor' starting...
