Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (8/18/2022: iFi GO Blu Review Added)

I do love immersion, which is why I have an ultrawide monitor. With that being said, do you feel as though the X2 would be an upgrade to the MMX300 or more of a sidegrade? Also, thise Aeolus are gorgeous, wow.

Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (8/18/2022: iFi GO Blu Review Added)

So if you could buy one pair of headphones today for immersive gaming, which would you cop? The 4XX? Edit: I figure if I've always loved the DT770s, why don't I stick with what I love? I might cop the 177x.

What kind of pads would you recommend? I was actually looking at buying these earlier. It was always my dream to own a pair of HD650s, but with how much I like my headphones to be colorful I'm not sure I'd enjoy the HD6xx, even at their insanely low price. The 4XX offer a little bit of fun don't...

Wow, monoprice headphones I had no idea these were a thing. And planar magnetics too? How hard are they to drive? Also, do you have any experience with Massdrop's offerings? They have some really good deals going on right now, so if you recommend any of them I'd probably pull the trigger.

Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (8/18/2022: iFi GO Blu Review Added)

I was gonna buy the HD700s for $300 which seemed good to me. As for the DT880, they seem like more of a sidegrade than an upgrade. I suppose this will be the case for most headphones I want to purchase to replace my MMX 300s. I've seen people recommend the X2HR, which seem like they're fun but...

From what you're saying then it sounds like the HD700s aren't for me. Any other fun but accurate headphones you can think of that are an upgrade to the dt770 pro 80s?

Interesting. Are they "fun" like the beyerdynamics? Cinematic games like Battlefield are a blast to play with them, and they're still good enough to give me an advantage when I need to hear footsteps etc. I'm also pretty sensitive to treble, should I steer clear?

Anyone here have experience with the HD700s? I'm about to pull the trigger on some. I currently have the Beyerdynamic MMX300 which are very similar to my old DT770 pro 80s. I love the fact that they're fun and also pretty damn accurate for competitive gaming. Would the HD700s disappoint me...

Recent sound cards that still use CMSS-3D?

Hey guys,   Has creative completely replaced CMSS-3D with SBX? I've tried Dolby Headphone, SBX, CMSS-3D, Razer surround, and nothing comes close to CMSS-3D (in my opinion). Are there still cards in production that use this technology?

Asus Xonar U7 DAC/AMP Impressions Thread

So I went ahead an ordered the Xonar U7. Arrived yesterday. I wanted to give you guys an honest mini-review.   The first thing I noticed was that the Dolby positional audio was really... lackluster. Everything sounds like I'm in a room. It completely amplifies the wrong sounds in my opinion...

    Asus Xonar U7 Echelon?

Hey guys,    I almost pulled a trigger on the Xonar U7 until I heard about the Echelon. Does anyone own it, and would they recommend it over the standard U7? Also, why does it seem impossible to find in the US?

To piggy back off of what you said... I can't seem to find the Echelon in the US either. Only through Ebay?

    HD650 vs HE-300/400

Well I realize this thread is about a year old... I figured it's better late than never.    DISCLAIMER I take medication daily that has a direct impact on my ability to hear certain frequencies properly, so take my review of sound quality with a grain of salt   Comfort: 7/10   As...

Good amp / dac to pair with HE-300

Me too, man. I'm definitely gonna write an impression thread for both the cans and the amp. I couldn't believe they were $149 (the HE-300) considering at launch they were $300.

Reply to review by 'dub beatz' on item 'Astro A40 Audio System - White'

Hey, Maxi,   Thanks for the review, first off. I just wanted to say your issue with the buzzing sound is usually prevelant in all headphone amplifiers when the gain or volume is increased too much on the amp itself. In other words, to minimize the buzz, what most people do is max the volume from...

Good amp / dac to pair with HE-300

Martin, thanks for the reply man. I actually pulled the trigger on an amp this morning, I just bought the E-300 and EF2A (hifiman) which is an amp dac combo. Got them both for $260 shipped!

    HD650 vs HE-300/400

I'll definitely write an impression up, especially because not many people have written about them. I'll update this thread when I've got them, I just don't want to wait!

    HD650 vs HE-300/400

Hey man, thanks for the response. I don't know what the onboard sound is for my work machine, I could open the device manager and check it out. It doesn't matter at this point, because I literally just ordered the HE-300 and EF2A from Amazon for $260 ($10 more than the EF3 / HE-300 combo...

    HD650 vs HE-300/400

Sweet man, thanks for this. I've yet to find someone else with HE-300 experience! I'm gonna pull the trigger on them :). I just gotta decide at this point what amp / dac combo to get, or if I should buy an amp / dac separately

Good amp / dac to pair with HE-300

Hey guys, I'm just looking for input from people who have experience with low end amp / dac (separate or combos). I know the he-300 is paired on headdirect with the EF-3 for $249, which seems like a steal. The only problem is, the EF-3 doesn't have a dac, and I'm going to be running it from my...

That's actually a fantastic suggestion, I'm gonna plug some in and see if I hear any distortion. The amp would definitely make it more audible.

    HD650 vs HE400/300

Haha, whenever I heard "KSC-75s sound better than ____" I just think ehh, whatever. Maybe to their ears they sound superior, but I've had zero interest in owning a pair of KSC-75s. I've heard the porta pro as well, and don't think they're all they're cracked up to be. I also hear there's quite a...

    HD650 vs HE-300/400

Haha, I guess you're right. I've pretty much made up my mind, I just wish there were more people on here who had experience with the HE-300 / EF-3 combo, especially since the EF-3 doesn't have a DAC. At this point the only thing holding me back is said lack of a DAC, and if I should just buy the...

    HD650 vs HE-300/400

This is getting more expensive by the minute! Would you say the HE-300 with the EF-3 amp would be good enough to run out of my computer without a separate DAC?

    HD650 vs HE400/300

Steve, have you seen the EF-3 amp? I'm very close to just purchasing the HE-300 and EF-3 combo, I feel like you can't beat $250 for these headphones and a solid amp
