So... I've got a pair of them, past warranty period, split opened casing, with wires torn off the solder. One side is fine, the other, well, as said, the wires in the casing that goes from the input socket plug thing, to the transducers, have been pulled out. I can ATTEMPT soldering it...

I'm just running it off a 9V battery. Will check and calculate the quiescent current later when I get a chance. I'm still stumped as why it only happens with the 555 and not on other headphones?

Thanks for the reply Tangent. I've just found what the problem is... I tested my amp with some cheap earbuds with an oscillator and a frequency generator. Output on both channels are fine, nice and clean. Came back home, tested it again with the earbuds, worked fine Plugged my 555's...

Hey FallenAngel, So would omitting the input caps help with bass response? And with your comment about not having much DC offset, does this relate to the amp without input caps, or to my current amp? What about the options I've mentioned/read about, ie even bigger power caps etc...
