Minnesota Meet 2020
Added a column to the spreadsheet to put the dates that work for people. Is April 29th supposed to be the 26th?- DarthMarth

[FiiO M11] Android 7.0, 2.5/3.5/4.4 Powerful Output, Exynos 7872, Dual AK4493 DAC chips, 3GB RAM, WiFi, Two-way LDAC
Sorry, I'm still a little confused--when I said I used Bluetooth for the first time today I meant it was literally the first time I've ever used Bluetooth to connect two devices. (I like the old-school tech) I guess what I meant was, is there a way to output the Bluetooth signal at maximum...- DarthMarth

Is it possible to output a line level Bluetooth signal, for devices that have their own volume control? I used Bluetooth for the first time today and was a little surprised that the volume knob on the DAP still worked, even when I set the output mode to LO.- DarthMarth

I thought this player had access to the full Android app store. Is this true? All I can find is the list of FiiO recommended applications, mostly other music apps. (This is my first real Android device, still figuring things out)- DarthMarth

I did it on Linux, using a Python script I wrote myself. I had to plug the SD card directly into my computer mount it as a normal filesystem instead of MTP--not exactly optimal, but luckily I don't plan on syncing this player too often. The two SD card slots map to the directories...- DarthMarth

Just got my M11. It's enormous! I'm mostly pleased so far. I've figured out how to sync playlists onto it. Am I restricted to accessing the onboard memory and SD cards via MTP unless I take the cards out? Is it just me, or does the "jump to a letter" strip on the right side of the FiiO music...- DarthMarth

Minneapolis meet 2019
Is anyone planning on bringing a portable source/DAP? I'm shopping around for a new one and would love to try out anything I can. I will be bringing my FiiO X5II.- DarthMarth

I'm thinking about getting a new DAP to use at work and this one caught my eye. I'm not terribly picky about sound quality, but I'd like something better for browsing than my current X5II. Some questions for anyone who is able to demo one... How fast/responsive is the UI? How does scrolling...- DarthMarth

How to create M3U playlists for use on the X1, X3 and X5 from your computer
I just got the X5 2nd generation yesterday and am loving it so far--it feels like it was made for someone who listens to music exactly like I do! I sync music to my player with a Python syncing script I wrote myself, which is supposed to generate the playlist files automatically. For this, I...- DarthMarth

Review: Violectric V800 DAC
Very interested in this DAC. Can anyone with Linux comment on the experience of getting them to work with each other? My current HRT MusicStreamer II+ works perfectly when connected with no setup required and I just want to make sure the V800 will as well.- DarthMarth

End game DAC for HD800/3-board β22
The Violectric V800 looks promising since transparency is my primary concern. One condition I forgot to mention is that the DAC must work with Linux as that is what my laptop runs. Will that be an issue with any of these DACs?- DarthMarth

End game DAC for HD800/3-board β22
Quote: I guess I'm just nervous about putting anything unnecessary between me and my sound. How is it functionally different from a headphone amp if it has a volume control? (Or does the volume control only affect the built-in amp, another thing I wouldn't need?) Quote: Is that...- DarthMarth

End game DAC for HD800/3-board β22
With my current HRT Music Streamer II+ to β22 to HD800 chain, I feel I've just about reached the point on the diminishing returns curve where it's no longer worth it for me to keep upgrading--my final setup. (We'll see how long it stays "final", haha) I am supremely satisfied with my current...- DarthMarth

Minneapolis Meet July 20th 12PM-5PM @ The Needle Doctor
Well, I picked the right time to check if there was a headphone meet in Minnesota...and this time, I have a setup others will actually want to listen to! I can bring: Sennheiser HD800 Sennheiser HD650 Sennheiser HD555 Sennheiser HD438 Sennheiser HD201 (I'm kind of a Sennheiser...- DarthMarth

IC: Headphone in Minnesota
I would be interested now that I have some half-decent gear to show. I don't have a car, so my attendance would be dependent on being able to put my stuff in a suitcase and get there via public transportation.- DarthMarth

Planning a Beta 22 build--some questions
Thanks, that backstory would have been helpful. I didn't realize there was such a debate going on. Could anyone explain why actively grounding the balanced channel might be detrimental? What if I only connected the active ground board to a single-ended channel and not to the balanced channel...- DarthMarth
