Looking for headphones that make me shake the head
Just get something really expensive, don't remove the pricetags and if you want to shake your head look at it. +1 for the ultrasones, but it would help a lot if you specify you budget :>- sLite

Jep, you dont need to solder them like they look there. Didn't know that the 627 also exists in a version for putting them into a socket. My construction looks like this: (one similar chip on the bottom side of the pcb) http://img.skitch.com/20081002-1s1ji...2ap66p5d9s.jpg They also have...- sLite

Little thing to add, if i had the choice now, i wouldn't go for the dual opa627 anymore, they are much too expensive for the overall quality of the firestone products. Doesn't mean they are crap, i still like the sound of the fubar a lot and will put it into my home rig as soon as the dacmagic...- sLite

Which High-End Closed Cans? (Ultrasone 8 is the winner / Do i need better DAC+Amp?)
I have to revaluate my thoughts on the bass when i have a decent source to listen to. The fubar with opamp upgrade isn't that bad but it's still a pcm2702 on a crappy wallwart feeded through usb after all. Only god knows how much bass i have to expect with a decent dac feeded through spdif...- sLite

Which High-End Closed Cans? (Ultrasone 8 is the winner / Do i need better DAC+Amp?)
Go my Edition 8 one and a half week ago now. The only thing i can say about them that they are ****ing incredible headphones! They owned every headphone i heard until now by far, including the K701 and the Tripple.Fi which i considered really really good sounding until i got the Ultrasone...- sLite

Yea, you probably got mine ^^ But nevermind, i waited for them my whole life, so there is nothing about a few more days I paid per bank transfer, i assume yours was paid by credit card. I'm curious about the bass they have, k701 are too weak for my taste for some kinds of music. But i've...- sLite

I'm looking forward to hear the Ed8 on my Heed, while it is a really good amp, i also had audible hiss on it with some very low impedance headphones (tripple.fi for example).- sLite

Upgrade/Extend my Gear! Tell me what i should buy ^^
Due to my listening environment i'm almost completely bound to closed cans. (Office with 4 ppl in it that need a quiet working environment) The only excuse (as you can see on my cans) is the akg which is only for classical and jazz, which i tend to listen quiet enough that the leaking is no...- sLite

Which High-End Closed Cans? (Ultrasone 8 is the winner / Do i need better DAC+Amp?)
What i'm wondering now, how much will the rest of my chain hold back the almighty power of the Ultrasone. Can anyone enlighten me if the Amp (Heed Canamp) is a good match/good enough and if i should throw the fubar /w opa627 out of the window?- sLite

Onboard or sound card
Good Soundcard and an Amp hardly adviced, bot Soundcards will hold back the performance of those by far. At least invest like 200$ more to get at least 80% of your new babys could do. If you really don't want to afford that i would say go for the creative, they are crappy to, my former audigy...- sLite
