    So I have owned the AKG K271 MkIIs for a few months now, and truly enjoy them for what I use them for - recording, mixing, monitoring, late night listening at home (closed-back is important for this). So far, I've been using only the "leatherette" pads (vinyl?)...haven't touched the velours...

    Enjoy the SR80s, I did my own listening test with the 80s, 125s, and 225s before I bought them and found the 80s to be most of what the 225s were (even though I ended up taking the 225s because of the great deal I got on them).
