    Aww, duh! It's so obvious now that you've said it. Less air to move = less power required. And a good seal means the driver doesn't have to work against any extra air (atmosphere outside of the ear canal) that it doesn't need to.

    Just got my NE-7Ms in the mail and I am thoroughly impressed. I too was debating between the NE-7M and RE2 but kept reading that the RE2s are slightly lacking in bass. I listen to a lot of funk/breakbeat/hip-hop/rock so having sufficient bass is important to me.
