Haha I remember my unit stinking when I first got it. I'm not even sure my unit is fully burned in at 50 hoursish but it sounds great!

I use the Earth hdam with my HD650 and love it, but I don't have the DT880 so Godkin may know better than me. (I definitely trust his sound quality judgment!)

You will LOVE the HD650 and DV3322! I listen to my setup day and night and it has so far gotten me through every failed test and all night study session in college!

What are you using to drive the headphones? You will need a decent dac and amp to get the most out of those headphones. Oftentimes plugging the headphones straight into your surround sound receiver will not suffice as the headphone outputs on those things are cheaply made.

I have a PS3 and occasionally use the optical output to my DAC. Sounds fine, just as good as the coax out on my computer.

I have a Z5300e and plugging my headphones into the headphone jack on the controller sounds TERRIBLE! I honestly can't stand it and its worth it to me to just plug my headphones into the back of the computer.

To tell you the truth, I have ordered a couple overseas items (A headphone amp and tubes) and both sellers agreed to put a "Gift" label on the items and declared lower values, thus making the items duty free. Ask the seller as most know the import fee to the United States.

I used a pink noise 30 second clip on repeat track for so far around 40 hours of burn in for my Darkvoice 3322 and Senn HD650s and I must say both have come to life over this time period! I am very impressed by what burn in can do!

Mine smelled a bit like plastic when they were new, but it went away in a day or so of being out on my headphone stand

Just to be safe though I'd wear gloves. I also know some types of mold are bad for you to inhale, so if you are really worried you might want to wear a construction mask.
