sony MDRs aren't nearly as capable handling high frequencies and overall coherency as other cans mentioned here. Sonys are somewhat sloppy. good for video production guys, but audiophiles look elsewhere. dats my 2 cents.

$70 you can get yourself the grado SR-80. i see it at that price range new. never heard the SR-60s, but have owned the SR-80 and for me it's definitely one of the best headphone investments i've ever made. the day i bought it i also got the sony MDR-7506 for comparison. the grado kicked sony's...

650 will do the job and you can add to it later when you get the dole. start with the best straight away. it doesn't make much sense to spent what you have now and get the 595...then safe...and then get the 650...you will then have 2 headphones and still without amp.

"improved grado-style sound"...i can think of ultrasone proline 750 or the 2500. they have the sense of urgency and excitement, something grados are also known 2 have. plus a bigger spacious soundstage, at this grados can't touch. they're relatively easy to drive just like grados. definite sonic...

HD 650 with the cardas cable upgrade is something to be reckoned with. add a tube amp like the LD++, it's paradise. the sound is something you want to miss a date with a hot girl with

many a-times peeps complain of noise bleeding from the headphones to the mic during tracking sessions. even with some closed headphones music can still creep out. what do you recommend as a good pair of cans for recording sessions? would noise cancellation headphones work inside out also?
