I recently started listening to this: The Congos - Heart of the Congos Produced by Lee "Scratch" Perry who has been mentioned earlier in the thread. Highly recommended.

I haven't done a side by side test, but I'm pretty sure my Dell DJ sounds better than an iPod with Senn PX200s. So chalk up another one for "Player A" sounds better than "Player B."

I've noticed that the word boring is getting thrown around a lot here. My brother listens to coldplay all the time and yeah, boring is the word that always jumps into my head too. BUT, like others have said, there are some good songs on the first album.

I just read Ender's Game earlier this year and I absolutely loved it! Excellent book. I also started reading Speaker for the Dead, which seems interesting as well.
