    Pinna-Fi

I've been pretty happy with my pinnae for 46+ years, but I've been thinking about having them reshaped to achieve better synergy with my AH-D2000. Can anyone suggest a pinna shape that works well for closed headphones? Feel free to comment on other shape/headphone combinations that you like.  ...

Little Dot I+, Grado SR125i, and tube rolling questions

Vibrations, including sound vibrations. If you gently tap a tube with a finger nail, tap the amp case (probably a better idea) or remove the headphone plug (which I usually don't do while the amp is turned on), you'll hear it. I can snap my fingers without touching the amp near the Philcos and...

Little Dot I+, Grado SR125i, and tube rolling questions

I really liked the stock 6JI tubes, but had one fail. Little Dot gave me a song and dance about having to clean the tube pins etc, but one clearly failed (major hum; glow was distinctly different from the good tube). It wasn't worth the hassle to pursue it, so I tried a bunch of cheap 6AK5...

Getting drunk... serious question for extremely serious people (title change)

According to anyone who has been in (including myself) or have had a loved one or friend maimed or killed in a car wreck involving a drunk driver. You have a drinking problem. I suggest that you seek treatment before you kill someone.   Quote:

Getting drunk... serious question for extremely serious people (title change)

You should have been arrested and charged. The cop should be suspended. Glad that my family and I don't live in your neck of the woods.   Your judgement is impaired when drinking and you shouldn't be driving. Period. Your judgement is also impaired while sober (assuming that you were sober...

Would a reasonably priced RCA-cable give me any improvement in sound?

Good choice (what I use and recommend). Better to save your hard-earned $ for purchasing recordings or going to live shows.   Quote:

No you can't. Hopefully you'll get pulled over and arrested before you kill someone.   Quote:

    Musical Fidelity V-DAC Owners?

A few of us posted impressions above. I switch the power supplies from time to time (just for laughs) and find the bass a little tighter with the Pyramid, but nothing earth-shattering. Was it worth $17 + shipping from Amazon? Maybe... if only to get rid my power strip of the fat wal-wart plug. I...

    Christmas Band Music? Best albums?

+1 on Charlie Brown (Vince Guaraldi). That is a beautiful record that I listen to throughout the year.

    RE0's - am I missing something?

Although the RE0 is middle of the road in terms of SQ overall (i.e., adequate; nothing to write home about), IMO it does do a much better job with acoustic (jazz; acoustic rock) than heavy-duty electric rock recordings.

    Thirteen Items of "Featured Content"?

Perhaps featured items could expire after a set time - say one week? Then have a link to formerly featured items.   Redudancy also adds to the length of featured items sections. Perhaps one reference to a particular reviewer/vendor. E.g., Steve Guttenberg has four links and HiFiMan has two...

Rate The Last Movie You Watched

More like an atmosphere of unease and unsettling boredom to accompany truly terrible acting. All three main actors looked like they would rather be doing anything else other than performing in this film.   Even the special effects (particularly the animated characters) were lame. I would...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

^^^ That's a great one! (edit: referring to Stones; Sons of Butcher may also be great)   I'm listening to Ornette Coleman's The Shape of Jazz to Come. Don Cherry (cornet) is currently my favorite musician.

Rate The Last Movie You Watched

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows   Deathly boring. A 2 hour and 30 minute film that was easily an hour too long. They should have used that hour to TELL A STORY or just cram in the rest of the book and be done with it.   I rate it 3 out of 10, which is probably too generous.   Ugh...

Rate The Last Movie You Watched

I just watched 30 Seconds Over Tokyo (1944). Predictable, sappy pro-American (and pro-Chinese; but not terribly anti-Japanese, all of which was interesting) propaganda. I've been listening to a lot of Pere Ubu and Rocket from the Tombs, so was inspired to rent it from Netflix. 3 out of 5. A...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

Alternating between WFUV's the Alternate Side on my new Sony HD Radio tuner (which is freakin' awesome) and   Buzzcocks Singles Going Steady:   Well you tried it just for once found it all right for kicks. But now you found out that it's a habit that sticks. And you're an orgasm...

What Was Your First Stereo and/or Set of Headphones?

First stereo: And Emerson all in one (tuner/turntable/cassette player). That wasn't so great, particularly as the turntable ran fast. The whole thing was actually kind of sad.   First headphones: Whatever headphones came with my Sony Walkman II ca. 1981. That was a nice piece of...

Matrix M-Stage / Gilmore Lite vs Little Dot I+ for D2000

^^ I like the bass better (for D2000) with the m-stage over the LD1+. I thought bass with the LD1+ was a bit bloated, but that may be related to my tube choice. I'll be putting my LD out to pasture and buying an m-stage for the office.

    RE0's - am I missing something?

I bought the RE0 for commuting and walking around town. SQ is decent, isolation is adequate for my needs (I need to be aware of my surroundings while walking city streets) and I wouldn't freak out if I lost them. In that case, I would probably look to spend my next $80 (my limit for a street...
