The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016
I'm having a very basic problem with Sound Unlocked. Forgive my dimness, but I can't figure out how to use the FW. The file extension for the download is ".7z" and the file size is 64kb - the size of a zipped file. And of course, it doesn't "do" anything. What secret step am I missing...- Gvvt

Warning About The Singlepower Extreme - Owners Please Read
There aren't many laughs in this situation, but jsaliga, your post is one of the funniest things I've seen recently. I wonder if there are testimonials to value of that upgrade.- Gvvt

Woo Audio Amp Owner Unite
Covenant, I've come across tubes, JJ 12AX7s among others, that had skinnier pins than normal, and nudging them inward did help; but you probably would have noticed that when you put these new ones in. I've also found that some drivers in my WA2 are noisy when I first try them, but seem to...- Gvvt

My Singlepower Supra Experience - Why mine almost blew up like a Hand Grenade (and yours might too)

do you hear hum noise on your WA5 from either high or low output headphone jack
You didn't say if you've tried changing the tubes. You should probably check them before sending it back to Jack, at least to avoid having to pack it up unnecessarily...- Gvvt

The Woo Audio 2
One thought about the ez80s. My WA2 came with a pair of International Servicemasters. Turns out they are probably Amperex, at least the ridges quad-secting (?) the top of the tube seem to suggest that. It might not be much of an improvement to change them. I did get a pair of Tungsram - possibly...- Gvvt

WARNING: tubes.siberian-shop.com Problem solved
I've done a couple of transactions with Siberian, and I posted a testimonial in which I observed that they can be very slow in communicating, the process is not good for your blood pressure, and that it does seem to work out in the end. They do seem to be trying to do a good job; I suspect that...- Gvvt

Is it safe to buy from Singlepower with Paypal.
It does seem hard to imagine that any particular customer at this point would be the lucky one who actually got something for their money. Seems like a very high-risk course of action.- Gvvt

Woo Audio 2 vs. Woo Audio 6 Upgraded
I was thinking of either the 3+ or the 6 for my Denon 2000s. Jack suggested considering the 2, which is what I ended up getting. I haven't heard the 3+ or 6, but the 2 is a tremendous piece of work. I felt that the Sophia Princess was a pretty expensive add-on.- Gvvt

Cmoy help, please
It took me a couple of days to finally find a bad solder joint on one of the power supply resistors. It looked fine, but I found that if I pushed lightly on the resistor, I could see the stub of the lead moving where it stuck up above the solder. Keep checking; you'll probably find whatever it is.- Gvvt

Best looking tube amp
My gosh - they're (almost) all beautiful. There is absolutely nothing not to love about tube amps. My WA2 with a pair of coke-bottle power tubes is up at the top of the list for me.- Gvvt

The Woo Audio 2
You might write to Jack about the hum problem. There was a version of the 5998 that had closely matched triodes - the 2399, but as I recall, Skylab did not feel the sound was strikingly different. I guess my point is that matched triodes probably wasn't a characteristic of the 5998, and that...- Gvvt

WooAudio issues
I don't know of anybody who sends a notification that they WILL be shipping something at some particular future time or date - unless it's some extra-cost option like Amazon has. What would be the point? What happens if they can't ship on that date for reasons they can't foresee? They send a...- Gvvt

Basic questions on tube amps (are they dangerous?)
A couple of old (ie, experienced) tube-heads on the forum wrote a while ago about using a towel when rolling tubes, because they were too impatient to wait the couple of minutes it takes for them to cool off enough to handle comfortably. I've never felt a strong urge to touch a tube once it's in...- Gvvt

Basic questions on tube amps (are they dangerous?)
Greatest danger is enjoyment. Symptoms include, but are not limited to, listening to too much music. Addiction to tube rolling can lead to vast amounts of time spent tracking down and comparing subtle variations. And irrational purchases. It's great.- Gvvt

Cmoy Tutorial, good one?
Since the minimum order numbers for a lot of the parts was 10, it's been great not having to worry too much about screwing up at first. After a few real messes, I was able to go back on the most recent one and correct the solder joints so that it worked. (I was also testing them with a pair of...- Gvvt

Cmoy Tutorial, good one?
I learned a lot by using the Tangent tutorial; not only from the comments, but finding out that it is useful to actually look at the layout diagrams so that you don't put in one channel's components hooked up to the wrong leads from the op-amp. I ended up making a couple of pretty ugly...- Gvvt
