Could i just re-use plugs from old pairs of headphones and a 3 conductor cable (or a 4 conductor) and just heatshrink the plugs to the cable? (better to ask now than to f#@% it up later)

I'm building my first cmoy amp. I will (hopefully) be getting a PCB from joshatdot to use. I will probably just end up using the parts list from tangentsoft though. Would this be a good idea or should I just stick to joshatdot's parts list? (probably a stupid question)
