Final Choice: DT 770/32 vs. DT 770/600, Need Some Help

Hey Head-Fi, I've been looking around for good headphones for the past few weeks, and I've finally settled on deciding between these 2 cans. I know that in most cases, it would be the DT770/600 without question, but I'm not sure if I have the proper amplification. I've read that you need a...

    SRH840 vs FA-003

So, I'm torn between these two cans right now. I listen to mostly rock with some intrsumentals, hip hop, and acoustic thrown in. The SRH840 are about $30 cheaper though. From what I've read, these cans sound extremely similar, so I'm trying to see if anyone else can throw in any advice. Can...

What Should I Get: SRH840 vs ATH ESW9 vs DT 150 vs DT770/600 Ohm vs FA-003

Hey guys, so currently, I have a set of Grado SR 225is being run out of my Denon AVR 2805 receiver (hooked up to my laptap via SPDIF to RCA port). The receiver was a hand me down, so I'm lucky to have it. It provides a better form of amplication than my soundcard or Zune. I love the awesome mid...

    ATH ESW9A vs Grados

In terms of comfort, how does the ATH ESW9A compare to the Grado SR225is? I've heard that ESW9As are uncomfortable, but are they better than the Grados? The Grados cup nearly covered my whole ears, so if the ESW9A cups are bigger, I might be fine. Also, do they isolate ANY better?

Quick Questions About the Ultrasone Pro 650s

Do these cans retain the sound signature of the hfi 2200/2400 but in a closed design? Are the mids recessed and how are these in terms of detail, imaging, and separation?   These can be had for $140 right now, so I'm strongly considering them.

    DT770 600 Ohm Question

I know these cans take some serious juice to run, so would a A/V stereo receiver be good enough to use with them? The receiver in question is a Denon AVR 2805. When these are hooked up to my laptop, at 100% sound on VLC media player, with the laptop sound set to 30%, Grado sr225i's are too loud...

    SR-225i Impressions

Alright, so I just got my SR-225i in today, and god dang, the Grado house sound is something else altogether. I've only listened to them for a little bit, so detailed impressions will come in a few days.   The vocals on these sound amazing. They're just sweet to listen to, and guitars...

    SR225 Question

When people say these cans and Grados in general are good for rock, do they mean all genres of rock? I mean will Grados make bands like Arcade Fire, The Cure, Brand New, Billy Talent and artists along that line sound really good?

Open or closed can for $200 or Less

Hey guys, I'm looking for a strong open/closed can for $200 or less. These are just going to be for at home use, and I'm going to run them out of a denon avr 2805 receiver hooked up to my laptop. There was a noticeable improvement in SQ when I plugged my M50 in to these.   The genres of...

Will this run the akg k601?

Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting some k601s for home use, and I've heard they're pretty dead without a good amp. Will a Denon AVR 2805 surround sound reciever hooked up to my laptop via optical cable be capable of running the cans? Here's the...

So Close To Making A Purchase, Just A Few Final Questions

So I've searched around and finally decided on the SRH840s. Based on what people have said, they sound a lot like what I want. My only concern is the soundstage. Is their soundstage just completely lacking and closet like in presence or just average? Also, a pair of SRH440s that I listened to at...

    DT770 vs HD280

Hey guys, today I dropped by a store and got to a/b the sennheiser 280s and beyerdynamic dt770s (80 ohms version). I was running them straight out of my iPhone, and while the 770s sounded great, the 280s just sounded more present. In terms of pure sq, the 770s were cleaner and it seemed like I...

New to this and need a little help

I just got my PA2V2 in the mail today, and I plugged my iphone in to it via a lod cable. However, sound came out through the speakers instead of IEMs. I had to connect it via hp out instead. Is the amp faulty or am I doing something obviously wrong?

    Removing And Inserting Shure Olives

I love the Shure olive tips for their comfort and sq, but honestly, they're a pain in the @$$ to insert and remove completely. Is there a special technique to this or something?

    Shure Olives

I've got some etymotics that I want to get some shure olives for. Would I be better off getting them in smalls for deeper insertion or would a shallower fit with mediums be fine and not hinder the sq?

    Tips

If etymotic glider tips fit in my ear well, would medium sized shure olives fit about as well or would I need to go for the bigger/smaller ones?

    IEMs in a $50-$80 Range

Hey guys. I've been looking at IEMs in the aforementioned price range, and the Head-First RE0s have really stuck out. I have a few questions about them though. First, is the sound quality really as stellar as described? Second, for someone who listens to mostly alternative and standard rock...
