MacOS Users: What player with EQ and FLAC do you recommend?

Ah yes - I was pleasantly surprised when I got that update a while ago. Still doesn't work perfectly - sometimes flac files freeze it. But when it works, it's great!

Official Ipod Video / Classic 5g+5.5g+6g+6.5g+7g SSD Mod thread

Changing the battery is a given, if you want to resurrect it. I'm not sure the button problem is related, but you'd have to change the battery anyway to find out. And then you start running into the question of whether it's worth the expense and time to do this - you can get working ones for...

Official Ipod Video / Classic 5g+5.5g+6g+6.5g+7g SSD Mod thread

Rockbox will work fine; and the OF will work fine. What won't work is trying to use the same database on both. The OF will only work with music added via itunes, that's filed in its weird native format. It won't see the files you add manually that rockbox can use. And you can load anything you...

    Audiophile iOS audio player

...and it's Neutron for the win! Golden Ear, when you use folder view to select a track, seems to think that's all you want to play, and stops at the end.

No. Not an issue for me, maybe for you though...

    Audiophile iOS audio player

Thanks - that one does work! I also found another app, called Golden Ear, that seems to have a correct folder view. I'm trying them both currently. Neutron has a relatively busy UI, and lots of bells and whistles. Golden Ear is really stripped down and basic. I'm not sure which approach I prefer...

The Shenzhen Benjie BJ-T6 / AGPtek Rocker

Just got one of these from amazon - the AGPTEK Rocker V2. Sounds great playing flacs through some IEMs (NuForce EDC3). I was especially attracted to the bluetooth functionality, as my new tesla model 3 doesn't have an aux jack, but streams bluetooth audio. I'm also really excited that rockbox...

Official Ipod Video / Classic 5g+5.5g+6g+6.5g+7g SSD Mod thread

There is a known issue with rockbox and all of these later ipods in that file transfers can be corrupted if you transfer while booted to rockbox. The easy solution is to boot into the apple firmware before connecting to your computer and transferring files. I'm not sure if that's causing your...

You just need to use ebay common sense. Look at where it's being shipped from, look at the sellers feedback rating, look closely at the items that catch your interest and compare it to lots of other ones. It's mostly individuals selling these, so spend some time. There are a few Chinese/Asian...

I guess it somewhat depends on where you are, but I found these 2 choices for the US pretty easily - https://www.idemigods.com/5th_5_5_Gen_iPod_Video_Battery_Replacement_30GB_p/5g_bttry_30gb.htm - this is a 650 mAh one...

Official Ipod Video / Classic 5g+5.5g+6g+6.5g+7g SSD Mod thread

I think it depends on whether you need/want to use rockbox or not. If you're a diehard rockbox user like me, then that narrows the available field considerably, and it's hard to find a good alternative. If you don't use rockbox, then I don't really know, as I don't pay attention to what else is...

    Ipod Classic vs Smartphone

See this thread about using ipod 5th gens - https://www.head-fi.org/threads/official-ipod-video-classic-5g-5-5g-6g-6-5g-7g-ssd-mod-thread.566780/ I don't know about the LG device, so can't advise what might be better for you. I've got a bunch of ipod videos that are updated with 128gb sd cards...

Update: got the new battery, it works fine. Just getting this ipod rockboxed and set up, will report back with battery life report soon.

I bought one, and it didn't work. Unwrapped the top, and the battery itself was fine, but the connector wasn't making the needed connections. I've just ordered another one to see if that was a one-time fluke. (I now have 4 ipods to test it in!)

MacOS Users: What player with EQ and FLAC do you recommend?

I use Decibel - has all the stuff, sounds great! It hasn't been updated in a while, may be abandonware, but still works - https://www.feisty-dog.com/decibel/

Oh - just discovered this thread! Or maybe I've already read it and forgot, not sure which. For some reason I got bored of my venerable iBasso DX50, and searching for a rockboxable and readily available alternative ran across the ipod video gen 5. So I bought one on ebay that had already been...

Oh right - yes I did! Now I see that the first post hasn't been updated, the 1.9.5 stuff is on the last page (http://www.head-fi.org/t/709855/rockbox-for-ibasso-dx50-dual-boot-with-stock-firmware/1950#post_12690141). Sorry about the confusion!   So shtihi - yes, it does indeed work in 1.9.5!

Settings>Playback Settings> Auto Change Directory must be set to No for this to happen. I think. If you change it to Yes it should jump to the next directory. Or the first one alphabetically if it's the last one currently (again, I think, I don't use that setting). I always use the Random...

No, I don't think I have the same problem as you are describing. I never have to do a "hard reset". Mine works fine.

Rockbox for iBasso DX50 dual boot with stock firmware

Sounds like a hardware problem of some kind to me. If it's happening in both mango and rockbox. I'd try restoring it to as close to original firmware as you can, see if that makes any difference. If not, try formatting your card to fat32, see if that helps.

Rockbox for iBasso DX50 dual boot with stock firmware

I have that "problem", although it doesn't really bother me that much. I only get one or two brief (barely noticeable) dropouts, sometimes, all within the first 10 seconds of play after powering up the device. I've found that it seems to happen almost exclusively with mp3 files - it never...

Sure there is. That's how I have mine set up.    Settings>Playback Settings>Auto Change Directory> set to Random. That's the easy part.    It won't work though until you run the random_folder_advance_config app in the Plugins>Applications folder. This app is a bit finicky, but you can...

Tons of differences. Complete file management. On the fly playlists. Random folder advance. Tons of different themes that are actually different. Tons of things that can be customized. It's a robust, open platform that's been in development for more than a decade, so it's very stable and...
