Small home office budget 2.0/2.1 hif/lifestyle system

Not sure where you ended up on your search (and sorry to revive an old thread), but I actually have a pair of AON-2 with the D3020. I bought them for my studio, and temporarily set them up in my bedroom. The setup sounds outstanding in there, I've been told to leave it there. My friend picked up...

    Hakko 936 discontinued, viable replacements?

The 888 looks like the Danelectro Edition; or maybe Eddie Current/Laconic Edition.

Yes, the 470uF Cerafines did lower the noise somewhat. I do not recall the measurement, but it was measureable with the meter, unamplified. I had both 330uF and 470uF Cerafines on hand, and was prepared to use either one. I tried the 470s first and noted the change, so left them. For the sake of...

    marantz dv7600 mods

@brave 357- My knowledge is pretty fundamental on this, actually. I would check all the thin ribbon connections to be sure they are square and snug in their sockets, also look at grounding connections.   If the discs spin up, slow down, respin, and the head is seeking all over, it sounds...

    marantz dv7600 mods

I do believe that all processing in this deck is referenced from the one master clock. I like the machine pretty well right now. The clock seems to have really tightened it up some. It was already pretty smooth, but a bit laid back.   While I did a few other mods, and added plenty of chassis...

    casework: help and opinions...

Well, peugeot is a bit of a classic I guess, but the effort was all there, so cool to see that! Not unlike casework, if you are into it, the results follow quickly. I have no qualms with people who make things and case them up in off the shelf enclosures at all, but it's just more fun to take...

That's pretty elegant, Ferrari! I like the AD843 well, though am not as much a fan of the BUF634. Excellent for a parts project!

I think you'll like it; I know the HD is a great sounding amp. It's a nice, straightforward design, and works very well with no drama.

The black oxide does look sharp, though. Does it seem pretty durable when threading parts over it?

    MAD Ear+ Purist HD thread.

In my opinion, it is fair to say that the power tubes have less impact on the overall presentation, but they still do influence the sound and performance of the amp, as does every component. Some more, some less, but it all matters. Tubes are easy to swap out, thus an easy avenue to modify...
