Low end. Cheap. Generic. Otherwise bang for buck cable thread!

Got the Kinera Ace yesterday. Compared to the Leyding, they are pretty much the same. Cable diameter is equal or very close, hardware is the same quality, cable handles and feels comparable. Biggest difference is in the modular system. The Ace has a more compact main, female connector while...

No but that wouldn't surprise me. One (or more) of, I believe it was a TRN branded cable, was notorious for not connecting all the wires. A lot of little wires for not a whole lot of money ... maybe they wouldn't all fit on the terminal

Timeless sounds good off of my Quicksilver headphone amp (tube). Tried it a while back. Didn’t spend much time with it but it was pretty darn good. As far as DAC’s go I’m fine with my older Pro-ject nos dac or Schiit Modi Multibit. Not finding the need to chase the newest dac or the last...

That should be an interesting comparison. I have/had a couple of their iem cables. One of their less expensive ofc copper + silver plated cables and also a pure silver cable. Still have the copper cable. They are pretty nice. Nothing too fancy but sound good and seem well built. They are...

It is more resistant to oxidation as each individual strand of wire is insulated. Commentary on audible differences ... I'll leave that to others.

Meze has a single ended cable but it's 3.5mm. I don't think they have a 6.3mm. Other than that, there is GUCraftsman which sells cables on Amazon. But they are over $100. As far as Aliexpress ... you should be able to find plenty of affordable, decent-good cables of that type either...

    7Hz Impressions & Discussion

Yes, except for Amp9. Much to the dissapointment of quite a few DX220 owners who moved or wanted to move to the 240. I think the issue is that the nutube and it's mount is a little too tall/thick to fit in the thinner 240.

Yes, Beyer DT880 and DT990. Bigger fan of the 990 but like the 880 too. Had them for a long time. I use them off of an OTL tube amp. The highs don't bother me at all. Nothing about the treble bothers me. I could be wrong but I think it's the higher treble that gets most people that are...

Bggar just reviewed the Shuoer S12. He likes them a little better than Timeless. However, they appear to have several db more energy through much of the treble. I don’t think thats going to fit the tastes of those who find Timeless already bright. Bggar claims its not am issue for whatever...

I think Timeless may be the only iem with which I was able to get a decent seal with the Symbios. But they are so uncomfortable for me that I can't tolerate them. No matter because, sonically, there are other tips that I prefer.

Interestingly enough ... if you compare graphs, Zen, Zen Pro and Timeless aren't radically different in terms of FR plots (especially Zen Pro and Timeless) aside from the Timeless extended treble and a bit more bottom end. Regardless, they are very different "flavors".

I'd have to give that some thought. Probably have to do some critical listening between the 2. Off the top of my head, Zen is really pretty good in the mids but treble rolls off early. Definitely have to give it to Timeless up top but maybe Zen through the mids. Zens magic is in it's...

Astell&Kern Launches KANN ALPHA Digital Audio Player

Just to keep the adapters plugged in? I would think that would be safe. Using at the same time, I don't know. But, for example, the 3.5 adapter only allows you to use 4.4 or 2.5 in the 3.5 single ended jack. You'd still have to remove the adapter to use a 3.5 plug in the 3.5 jack. They'd...

Low end. Cheap. Generic. Otherwise bang for buck cable thread!

That's the cable that's braided before splitter and twisted after splitter, right? I've seen that cable before, and thought it was a nice looking cable with that twist after the split. It's single crystal copper if I remember right. But always thought it would be heavy. Looked for it on...

Astell&Kern Launches KANN ALPHA Digital Audio Player

Of course it is possible to simultaneously plug into both jacks at the same time ... but that doesn't mean it will work. :D Seriously though, not sure what you mean. You mean so 2 people can listen at the same time, one balanced and one single ended?

Astell&Kern Launches KANN ALPHA Digital Audio Player

That was the intention, to use with IEM's and full size phones but I never really ended up using it much with my full size phones. Not yet anyway. I tried it with Meze 99's just for fun and it easily drives those but that's not saying much. Seemed like it would do ok with Hifiman Drop HE4XX...

Interesting. I have an MMCX assist tool (I've never used nor needed to use it) but my Timeless didn't come with one.

Astell&Kern Launches KANN ALPHA Digital Audio Player

DX300 is out of production from what I understand. I think it's because of lack of availability of the Cirrus Logic Dac chips. Not sure if it's on pause or completely discontinued. If you find one, try to audition it first. I have an Ibasso DX220 as well as the Alpha and I didn't really like...

Did that MMCX assist tool come with your Timeless? Either way, I don't think it will work because of the infamous Timeless disc.

    7Hz Impressions & Discussion

Almost has me thinking that the + and - was swapped on one channel which would put the iems out of phase but I'm pretty sure I'd hear more than just the bass attenuation if that were the case. I'll check the cable over again when I get a chance. Fablestruck would have heard the attenuation...

I'm currently using a Tripowin Altea (2.5mm balanced). I had no issue with the stock cable but it's 4.4mm. 2.5mm is compatible with all my portable devices while 4.4mm isn't so I swapped cables. https://www.linsoul.com/products/tripowin-altea-cable

Thanks for reporting back. Something up with my LC-RC sample then. My sample absolutely, undoubtedly attenuates the low end. It isn't just a balance thing from tightening the bass and opening up the mids and treble or anything like that. It flat out attenuates the bass by several db's...

DX240 DAP. The next in line with a faster prossessor and new DAC ES9038PRO - AMP8MK2 is now out!

Looks the same or very similiar. I have a video for the DX220 batt. replacement. Just 2 screws but then looks like a tab needs to be manipulated in each screw hole to allow the back to pop up (can't see what the tech is actually doing). Then it just pulls up and off after disconnecting the 2...

The DX220 battery replacement doesn't look too difficult either. I have a battery on the way from Ibasso but I have no idea when I'll get it.
