If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

I find that hard to believe, no offense. I bought the ER2SE because I read comments like this. But the ER2SE is not remotely in the same league as the ER4SR. Etymotic know that and priced it accordingly.

    The discovery thread!

Just in case this might to be a useful comment for someone: After about two years in the Chi-Fi game, it's time for me to move on. I've fallen hard for the Etymotic ER4SR. I find them to be fully satisfying and vastly better than anything else I've tried. For me, this is love. Wishing you all...

It's clear to me that Tempotec's own BHD is better than the Sonata Pro, if you don't mind using a balanced connection.

Thanks for that. I'll spend some more time with the Starsea on the balanced setting. I'll probably have to get the CKX now.

CCA in ear monitors Impressions Thread

Is the CKX a significant improvement over the CSN? I got the CSN and I'm really stunned at how good it is for the money. Zpolt put up a review of the CKX with a graph that suggests some excess energy in some spots in the treble. After some time with them, is the treble annoying you at all? I'm...

Tempotec Sonata HD Pro DAC/AMP-> Amazing sound, small size, affordable price!

Thanks, but same result. I should probably just forget about it. It works on my phone well enough. BTW, I have a BHD on the way.

Thanks. Yes, I did that initially. I've uninstalled, installed, and rebooted several times but no luck yet.

TRI earphone impressions - I4 and I3, Starlight, NEW Starsea

It looks like the KBear folks didn't anticipate the demand for the Starsea during the current AE anniversary sale. The Starsea page says: Due to TRI Starsea is a customized earphone, the production time is long and the program is complicated, so the shipment is slow. Currently out of stock,We...

    crinacle's IEM Ranking List

A+ tone for the QKZ VK4 irrespective of price? Suggests a sorry state of affairs for the IEM industry on that front.

I have a few thoughts to share about recent IEMs in the TRN lineup. When the BA5 was introduced, I bought those and enjoyed them, so I was an early adopter for the BA8 despite the price jump. I wrote an enthusiastic review of them for this community. Black Friday brought a crazy low price for...

I agree. I've been planning on posting something about how impressed I am by the technical capabilities of the VX. I understand why these didn't gain more traction; the tuning choices weren't great. But I'm using some equalization to remedy that problem, and the end result is indeed amazing for...

Here's a Russian review of the BA8 with a new graph. "And, in my opinion, TRN BA8 are on a par with headphones for $ 200-300, significantly bypassing all budget hits. Great model."

Review by 'backdrifter' on item 'TRN BA8'

TLDR: Highly resolving, natural-sounding IEM, adding up to more than the sum of its parts. The TRN BA8 is an all-balanced armature IEM, with 8 drivers per channel. Their configuration is as follows: Treble 3 x 30095 Mids 2 x 29689, 2 x 50060 Bass 1 x 22955 TRN has made a big jump with the...

OK, so I'm not crazy! Yeah, they're surprisingly good, I think. Better to judge an IEM with your ears rather than your eyes. Are you just using stock tips and cable?

The list of manufacturers who have made questionable tuning choices would be a long one. The tuning of the BA8 is good, imo.

    TRN impressions thread

First impressions are that I like them quite a lot. I feel they are a significant upgrade over the BA5. It's less of a fun or V-shaped tuning and more of a balanced tuning, with mid-range being being more present/immediate/clear, and the bass dialed back a bit. BA5 mids seem veiled and distant...

BA8 has arrived in a little over two weeks using AE standard shipping, which is a record for me. You can see that these are packaged to present a more upscale impression. I'll post listening impressions soon.
