Comment by 'ScubadudeSA' on listing 'PS Audio GCHA Headphone amplifier and DAC'

The GCHA was built before balanced headphones became a thing, so balanced refers to inputs only. Early models had only RCA, balanced XLR was added later along with power switch, two notable omissions on the first release.

Comment by 'ScubadudeSA' on listing 'PS Audio GCHA Headphone amplifier and DAC'

Absolutely killer amp this - I use mine daily in the office with HD600 and HE560. The DAC section is so-so (Modi 2 is a beeeg step up) but the amp is an absolute beaut that trashes all FOTM amps - you cannot fake the excellent engineering, component selection, and massively oversized power...

    Sennheiser Flagship Timeline?

May earn you some backlash, @Backsplash7 :) Honestly I havnt spent much time with the HD560 II's, and none recently. My first impressions were that they lack the transparency and delicate detail of the HD540, and the even tonality of the 600. Definiately not challenging the HD800 in any area...

The Stax SR-L500 and SR-L700 Impressions Thread

Not so. The 353x is significantly better than the 252s. Notably it maintains composure much better at higher playback levels. I own both and I think the SR207 sounds better on the 353 than the L500 sounds on the 252.

There was a PDF compendium of all amp and headphone measurements in circulation a while ago. Can't seem to find it now though.

Wow! Sennheiser HD 540 Reference are so good.

HD800 ... Add SDR mod to mimic the 540G's balance.

    Lotoo Paw 6000 (2019)

I've heard the Ether Flow CX on PAW 6K ... Great combination. The CX's lush and fluid character blends incredibly well with the PAW's reference tuning.

If I could be bothered to sit down and write up my experiences with the LP6K it would pretty much be what you said. One thing that is really freaky is how good it sounds with full sized headphones despite relatively low power output. HD650 and HD800 are my favourite combos.

    Acoustic Research M2 Audiophile-Grade Hi-Res Portable

Been using the M-2 for almost a year and simply love it! However an opportunity came up to buy a Lotoo PAW 6000 and I can't keep them both. Tough decision but the M-2 needs a new home. See my ad here https://www.avforums.co.za/index.php/topic,84968.0.html

Maybe IF is just not that important to them ... then again they may have bigger fish to fry - the ranking of their flagship Stereophile website is also slipping.

    Sennheiser Flagship Timeline?

Necroposting ... I have an affinity for the HD series. I've had HD540 Reference Gold for a while, along with HD600, HD650 and HD800. Yesterday I got an HD560 Ovation II. So now I am trying to piece together the lineage of these great headphones. Google led me to this thread, and also a Czech...

All Arie's fault I tell you! He showed me a pic of his set-up ... and it featured this nifty monitor stand that makes a great equipment rack. Before ... leaning tower of Head-Fi .... After ... You won't believe the improvements this has made! Greater sense of clarity, detail and space...

I wonder if the bass heavy / bass light thing isn't overhyped. Mine is 11xxx so clearly bass light. I haven't had the opportunity to listen to a bass heavy pair so my thoughts my not have much merit. But I do find my pair to have a wonderful balance with more bass most people would give it...

    Audio-Gd R-28 impressions thread

I believe those are the terms of the very generous 10year warranty. Those terms are also one of the reasons GD products are priced as competitively as they are ... Bidirectional shipping is not priced in. If I were the OEM I would ensure any repair work is done under controlled conditions if I...

Wow! Sennheiser HD 540 Reference are so good.

I have two pairs of 540 Ref Gold. One pair has an original cable and I think 560 velour pads. The other pair came with a butchered HD800 cable since replaced by an HD600 cable which looks and feels close to the original. The pads on this pair are tatty originals which I will get restored...

Picked up a pair last week on a pre stocktake clearance sale and I am pretty happy with the sound. Comfort not so much so going to try the thingverse rings plus MSR7 pads - like the look of a compact over-ear. Silly question maybe ... I have no need for the cipher cable. Can this be made to...

Wow! Sennheiser HD 540 Reference are so good.

Dont know if I can add much to the general notion of the thread that (1) the HD540 remains a stellar peformer shaming most every other headphone in terms of accuracy and neurality and (2) finding proper replacement pads are a real PITA. Or maybe I can ... My history with the HD540 goes back to...
