Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

I have to say that I fully agree with ctrlm on this. Sorry to be a bit blunt again but the micro usb is a REALLY BAD "penny pinching" choice imo!! Why did you choose such a flimsy little connection as on Hugo??? I mainly use my Qutest with a battery powered psu that definitely to my ears...

Dear Light-Man Really Sorry to hear, but good to know you seem to be coping quite well with your problem. And still posting lots of good stuff and often with a twinkle in the eye too. I am far from sure I would personally cope as you seem to be doing. I actually went to my first live...

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

And for those who did not pay enough attention recently, to even register that he is indeed working on a second Mscaler, Rob has also stated that it will be both more advanced, and compatible with all current Mscaler compatible dacs, which I interpret as both H2, TT2 and Qutest, not only Dave...

Chord Electronics - Hugo 2 - The Official Thread

This time around I will not regret liking your post unless Rob says it is not doable and no suitable ie current swing-wise and wattage wise powerful enough, batteries are avaiiable. And I still like your" not barking dog" from the one where I changed my mind a bit. Having said all this I...

Good to see she has got her precious violin in a safer place than that potentially slippery log by the lake this time around! And more modestly dressed too ,something that can not always be said about little Yuja, nudge nudge, Cheers CC

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

In Singapore? What are the the current local prices there?I got my Qutest in Singapore and my Mscaler in Malaysia when both had basically just been released and paid about the same price one obviously has to pay for just the Mscaler today, for a Qutest and an Mscaler combo! I sometimes almost...

Wow! After the first playing I just had to listen to the Rach Concerto 2 times last night. She is simply amazing! Watching her hands closely I can see that he can just barely reach those very stretched fingers, intro chords. But they sound better than I have ever heard them before ,and all...

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

Oops, mea culpa for "liking" the post! IMO actually Very Strong opinion Qutest or any other Chord Dac should be fed upsampled files via Mscaler! Or possibly HQ Player? I have not tried HQ Player so I can not say how much of an improvement it adds over Qutest on its own. But I know for sure...

Thanks, sorry about my ignorance, but I am still as confused as before. You are quoting the same figures as I did. But what is the difference between the two? I maybe wrongly understand snr as signal to noise ratio quoted in dB indicating the inherent noise level of a product? I thought...

I have to say I like the form factor of the Anni, but specs are a bit confusing to me. Could someone with better knowledge than me, please explain why they quote two figures for SNR? -92dB and also -110dB? To me neither look overly impressive. My main headphone amp twith Qutest the...

Right, like I said it´s been a while. Waterton Lakes is the NP I used to pass on my way into the US in my motorhome. And much more scenic than Elk Island. We had both dinner at the hotel on the lake and stayed overnight there once, on our way down to Yellowstone. But unlike the US where I have...

Hi again, once again your observations tally with mine both regarding Banff/Jasper and yes, "Stockholmers" are not ,even here in Sweden, exactly known for their hospitality. Very aloof and even arrogant to the point of often being referred to as" 08s" ie the local phone number code for...

Hi again CM , slight correction regarding the Denon Dresden Blomstedt Bruckner cds 4 and 7 they are from the mid 80s not 70s, mea culpa. Blomstedt and Beethoven , I have no cds but yesterday I watched and listened to a YT /DW video of Blomstedt rehearsing Beethoven´s 4th with the BRSO, very...

HI CM, apart from the fact that summer is definitely over here and Sweden is turning wet ,cold and dull with leaden grey skies, I am ok and actually seriously thinking of renewing my passport again to be able to travel a bit in Europe later this fall/winter. It seems concert venues are...

Very nice indeed.Possibly the best windplaying I have heard in that work. Blomstedt is in his 90s and conducting one of the World´s best orchestras on Tour ? The venue looks like Amsterdam? PS saving Bruckner 4 for later, but I have some of his Bruckner recordings with the Gewandthaus...

I fully agree with your take and would NEVER buy a HIFI product with a fan! I had an OPPO multiplayer with a fan onboard on home loan once and returned it the next day. DYNAMICS in most current HIFI contexts are IMO mostly NOT about how effing loud one can play in a good system but the...

    Raal Ribbon Headphones - SRH1A

Nice review as usual from you Rajiv, with many music choices where SQ really matters imo. I heard the SRa1 a couple of times with another amp just after it had been released in Singapore a couple of years ago. My own take with some of my most demanding, ie non compressed large scale...

Hmm, imho both were GREAT composers and a testimony to that is that their music is still played and enjoyed today hundreds of years later.. I´d be more worried about why so many enjoy RAP hip hop and other noise imo wrongly labeled as music.. Cheers CC

I do not know if this will interest you guys, as much as it interests me? But it will keep me busy for quite a while that is for sure. My saviour and daily inspiration since I still really suck at reading sheet music is: "Synthesia"! And here we get not only the piano part as usual, but the...

Spine chilling and Goose bump inducing Desdemona! "nel hora de la morte" as gripping as her Vissi d´arte from Tosca. Other great Callas recordings are imho Carmen and as mentioned Tosca ,several recordings of Tosca my fav the 1964 EMI with Prètre conducting. I wonder if the excerpts from...

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

As I see it both the supplied power unit and the very annoying USB connection it has, are the TWO Achilles heels of Qutest. Cheap choices imho. But fed well recorded music with a better supply and via Mscaler or PGGB ,it can deliver VERY good SQ. Cheers CC
