    Ultrasone Signature DJ

Glad to offer a good suggestion.  Here is one more- I jammed out to Led Zeppelin for about two hours the other night hearing details I never heard before.  Add classic rock to the Sig DJ's checklist.

    The Basshead Club

While I can't speak to the IEM comparison you are requesting (it is obviously much more challenging to demo IEMs vs. headphones for hygenic reasons- for some reason I just had a vision of a big wad of ear wax stuck to a silicon tip),  one big difference I see between the AH-C100 is the design...

Shure announcing new SRH1540 in Tokyo today! - Head-Fi TV

The NAD HP50 may be another option to consider.

    The Basshead Club

Push your budget to $80 for Denon AH-C300's and you will be a happy camper.  These were selling for $250 last year.  The WOW factor of the bass and sub-bass on these make them the most fun basshead IEMs I have heard anywhere near their price and the mids/highs are respectable.  They are like a...

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?

If by too neutral, you mean that you prefer more bass, then the M-100 with XL pads may be for you.

    The Basshead Club

E11 can drive volume much louder than Z0.  Both have excellent bass boost, but ZO offers more bass boost control.  If I could only choose one, I would go with the E11.

Sell everything, pool the $ for the Ultrasone Signature DJ and call it a day.

Nice review.  Based on your order of SQ, we hear things similarly so I continue to be satisfied with the Sig DJ.   Thank you for satisfying my curiosity.  By the way, the cups are huge!

    Ultrasone Signature DJ

Build quality seems to be an issue with the Fostex.  In contrast, one can really appreciate the build quality of the Sig DJ in person with premium materials and a rugged, tight build with no weak spots.  They have held up perfectly for 6 months so far, but naturally I don't beat them up.  The...

V-MODA VAMP VERZA/METALLO: Discussion/Feedback, Reviews, Pics, Crowdsourcing Ideas

No problem.  FYI, the opposite is actually the case since higher impedance headphones have a greater need for amplification to sound their best.  Also, sonic variances/improvement are much more significant between headphones vs. amps generally speaking.

Martin Logan Mikros 90 On-Ear Headphones

I recently auditioned the Polk Buckle and think that might match your preferences, at least worth an audition at Best Buy.

V-MODA VAMP VERZA/METALLO: Discussion/Feedback, Reviews, Pics, Crowdsourcing Ideas

I know this has been asked and answered before, so apologies in advance for asking again, but I am realizing how annoying it is to have a straight 4" connector for my Verza (particularly when I want to place in my pants pocket) and was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to share links for...

V-MODA VAMP VERZA/METALLO: Discussion/Feedback, Reviews, Pics, Crowdsourcing Ideas

I don't believe you would hear any significant benefit from Verza with those earbuds, especially if you want a big low end boost which you won't get with that design because they don't seal in your ear canal.  You may do better with a lower cost amp that has a bigger bass boost like the FiiO E12...

Polk Buckle- an overlooked headphone that deserves a thread

FYI, there isn't active noise cancelling.  I wanted to try the Hinge, but was pressed for time.

Bowers & Wilkins P7 - over the ear headphones

I completely agree with this statement as I found myself actually cringing during my brief listening session.  The P7 does many things right and I can understand why there are many fans, but IMO the highs are over the top.  For those who like the P7, but wish the highs were smoother and prefer a...

Martin Logan Mikros 90 On-Ear Headphones

The Mikros is flat by comparison, particularly the low end.  The high end does extend further with the Mikros, but you would miss the bass too much.

MrSpeakers Alpha Dog Revealed! - The World's First Production 3D-Printed Headphones

I don't know that one headphone can even be end game for one individual and all genres.  For example, the Ultrasone Signature DJ is my end game for pop and EDM, but the Alpha Dogs interest me for their vocal presentation with artists such as Norah Jones, Jewel, Carly Simon, etc. (not that the...

Yes, I'm thinking Val might have an issue with their use of the name which I assume is copyrited.

Polk Buckle- an overlooked headphone that deserves a thread

After listening to these at Best Buy today, I am surprised there is not a thread yet for these, so I thought I would start one. They have a warm and detailed sound that I thought was impressive for $200 and they are certainly a contender in their price range.  They also fit comfortably over my...

In case Val is still checking this thread, 5 Below, a US retailer, is featuring something they actually call the Crossfade DJ headphones for $5!   To clarify, it is not V-Moda
