    Grado PS-1000 initial impressions

My personnal experience fit with Tamahome77. Out of the box the highs were a bit too hot and the bass more prominent. But with burn-in the highs and bass calm down a little, with less sibilance and the mids seems more refined. They are getting better that's for sure but they're still not...

    Chassis source in the US?

There was once diyenclosures.com. But he is just liquidating his very limited remaining stock now. Other than that there is the nice Dissipator series from Teko Enclosures but only 1U height. The 19" rack series still look good.

What SE tube/hybrid amp between $250-500 do you own?

SOHA II here. Using 6DJ8 Amperex "Orange Globes" it sounds great with my grado RS-1.

    Stacker II- Progress? Availability?

I've just read the entire thread. Look very promising. Totem pole input gain stage. 100V to 150V adjustable plate voltage per triode section (200V to 300V B+). Dual triode noval and octal tubes support. A tube roller dream! The BJT output buffer seems, to me, a bit complexe (reference...

Except for the higher Voltage B+ cap, I have replaced all Xicon caps with Panasonic FM/FC caps. These are great caps for decoupling purpose and they all fitted the board just right. I think I still have my SOHA II BOM @ home so just PM me as a reminder and, if you are interested, I'll send you...

    "Rock Out" Cans

If you are a bass freak you may look elsewhere than a Grado. You better go with Denon or even Ultrasone. But these won't give you the PRaT and that and electric guitar crunch that only a Grado provide.

Blue Hawaii PCB Group Buy - Heads Up

I don't have any stats HP in my inventory but that could be handy to have an amplifier if I ever get into stats. Any BOM in existence? Just to have an idea of the cost of whole project. I also suppose a schematic and part list is posted somewhere (HW?)

Another vote for RS-1. Particularly if you like guitars oriented material. Having heard the HD-800 I think they are far from rock/heavy kings. PS-1000 could be the ticket but not enough reviews to conclude anything. Just wait for more head-fiers get theirs PS-1000. There could be some...
