Burmester 011 has a headphone jack

Having owned plenty of Burmester gear over the years and having a pretty good idea of how they do things, it is equally possible that there is a crappy IC based headamp or a passable headamp in it. It is highly unlikely that there is anything approaching a great headamp in it as they expect that...

    The Stax thread (New)

According to the STAX website, the 404LE production run is officially finished and sold out. We pretty much new this to be the case but now it is "official". Export products I just put my extra pair up for sale in the forums as I don't really need 2 pairs and so that someone else can have...

At 100 hours of use on the new pair, they now sound identical to Larry's 100 hour pair. No big surprise to me as this is just what I expected when I made my original comment. Just thought I would report back. BTW, I always unplug my stats and short the pins when I done listening.

B&W Diamond Series Loudspeakers (diamond tweeter)

My friend with the Grande Utopia Be's went through every generation of the flagship Infinities and Genesis products before settling in on the Grandes and is loving the fact that the drivers don't deteriorate. The Evidence is a fantastic speaker and despite being tall, it is VERY easy to...

    Accuphase Just Love It

Accuphase is indeed great stuff, I have owned many of their units over the year including most of their flagship amps and single box CD players (M-8000's, M-2000's, A-50V's, DP-700, DP-78, DP-77, DP-75V, DP-75). Also had plenty of McIntosh in secondary systems and played with plenty of Luxman...

Stax SR-404 Limited serial number ?

Looks like this is about it... As an interesting data point, I just received a pair of 404LE from Elusive Disc in the 093X serial number range. I had these on order for about 4 months and they are out of the most current batch so it looks like STAX is almost done with production of the 1000...

Need help from the STAX experts

If your source component is balanced and the input stage of the KGSS is balanced (should be) as is the 717, there will certainly be an improvement. As Spritzer points out, the 717 is superior to the 727. STAX was forced to retire the 717 due to a design infringement. If it weren't for this...

    Lehmann Black Cube Linear?

I really enjoyed the BCL that I had (I did not use the internal DAC as I had a much better source) paired with Grado PS1000's. I did however feel that the SPL Phonitor beat it out pretty easily but is around $1,000 more expensive so that would be expected. THe BCL had great resolution, was...

Orpheus - HEV90 just sold for 20K-plus on ebay

Simple supply and demand. I was watching the auction closely and from what I could tell (private auction but I could look at bidder history), US buyers topped out at $15K while the Foreign buyers went the rest of the way. The difference in exchange rates explains the willingness to go up to $20K...
