    HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone

Nice words of reassurance. I'm safe, haha! There are many reasons why hifiman will never revisit their classic designs, especially not the HE6. It gets down to three factors, driver tension, foil-membrane integration and FR. Some day I'm going to write a blog about how each factor ties into the...

    HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone

I recently come in contact with someone who's disassembled quite a handful of HE6 and SEs. He wishes to keep his identity private in fear of Fang murdering him in his sleep. Here are a few tidbits of information I've gathered from this guy: 1. Unit variation of the SE is significantly worse...

Cayin iHA-6 - US Tour and reviews

Static and hum seem to be two recurring issues on this amp. I bought my first unit second-hand last December, in low-current mode there's a constant hum not unlike the transformer hum that completely goes away in high current mode. I returned it. I bought another one in March, it worked fine for...

Schiit Modius discussion - $199 balanced AK4493 DAC

I don't get why so many companies completely ignore the CS43198. It's a great chip from a reputable company that features very low power draw and a set of very nice filters. These days it's either AKM or ESS.

    HIFIMAN HE-R10 Closed-Back Headphones Discussion & Impressions

I still don't know why hifiman would release a blatant copy of another headphone from a different company. They aren't a startup anymore, they're an established brand co-leading the planar game with Audeze.

No. The one Edition 11 uses is an IEM type socket.

ULTRASONE NEW ANNOUNCED HEADPHONE Signature Pro

This cable won't work because the signature pros are wired internally as single-ended, matter of fact all ultrasones that use single-entry sockets are wired single-ended. The socket that connects the headphone and the cable is 3-pole which means the extra pole on that cable is either disregarded...

    Resonessence Labs Concero discussion/review thead

Frank passed away? Damn. I talked to him a month ago and he walked me thru the steps to repair my veritas. He seems very helpful and friendly. I was eventually able to get in touch with a local EE and had him replace the USB receiver chip and ESS chip on my veritas, which brought it back to life.

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread

lol the subreddit is blowing up. If I recall right, it says on the user manual that the torque on the baffle screws are set to a specific value as to make the headphone sound right. Can you explain how that works? Like if you tighten the screws a few degrees more the headphone will actually...

Khadas Tone2 Pro: Mini Desktop DAC with built-in Headphone Amplifier

The value proposition of this thing is just insane. XU216+9038, with 4.4mm balanced out, and on top of that 2 AS318-Bs. Jesus Christ, how do you even make a profit?? What does the BOM look like?

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread

This is the exact reason why I'm using HE6 more than the 1266. The sound quality of the 1266 when adjusted right is just unparalleled, sublime, superb, any superlative I can throw at it it won't be an exaggeration. But, but, the fit is just too finicky. Most of the time when I come back from...

Reply to review by 'lambdastorm' on item 'Sennheiser HD 560S'

God damn, the V590 PRO is overkill for anything under $1000. Have you tried the 560S on balanced? Or is the review solely based on single-ended connection?

Hifiman Sundara (HE400i upgraded, around $500)

Question. I know the silent revision has been discussed about a thousand times but what is this 'dust cover improvement'? I bought a sundara recently, and the dust cover seems no different than when they were furst introduced.

The New HD 560S: Linear Acoustics at a Breakthrough Value

I really hope they're not made in China. Not that china made stuff indicates bad quality but made in romania/ireland gives so much peace of mind.
