Shanling M0 - Nano size, touch screen, LDAC & aptX BT, USB DAC/transport and ESS Sabre ES9218P, FW 3.5

Had my M0 for a few weeks and still very impressed with it. Excellent for sound and value. A very minor niggle has occurred for me. Twice now I have switched off at night with a full or perhaps 3/4 battery level - but in the morning at switch on I got a "low battery" warning. Almost as if...

APOLOGIES! APOLOGIES!! My problem connecting Sony MDR 1ABT via LDAC to the M0 is MY FAULT for not going back and reading the phones manual closely enough!!! Sorry folks and Shanling!! I thought switching the phones on ( and getting the flashing blue light) put them into pairing mode...

Shanling M0 - Nano size, touch screen, LDAC & aptX BT, USB DAC/transport and ESS Sabre ES9218P, FW 3.5

Had mine { black} for a few days now.....thanks to hifiheadphones here in uk for excellent next day delivery! Sound is amazing - especially considering size and price. Am slowly getting used to navigating around the touchscreen. Was tending to "overshoot" on the main options screen when...

    SONY NWZ-A10 Series

Just updated to new firmware (after Mediago informed of new version) All went smoothly and very pleased re the new internal memory/sdcard changes. But am still disappointed re the minor issue (to me!!) which is still present.   I sometimes want to connect via Bluetooth to a single small...

    SONY NWZ-A10 Series

Hi xylin6. Thanks for replying. Yes-I have tried "presetting" the volume from 15 or 20 level right down to 3 or 2 (or zero!) . In all cases when I pair up my music plays at the same fixed (high) level. And the volume rocker then has no effect (doesn't even show the moving slider thing!)   Hi...

    SONY NWZ-A10 Series

Hi all. Got a question re Bluetooth on the nwz-a17. I bought a tiny portable Bluetooth speaker (anker a7910) which doesn't have any volume controls. When I pair up the a17 it plays at a fixed but too loud volume. But the a17 volume control is now disabled. I've no way to drop the Bluetooth...

iBasso DX90 Bug Thread - Post Any Firmware Bugs/Issues Here

Hi all. Got a minor glitch with my dx90 running fw2.3 - not sure if a bug or (more likely) the files I'm having the issue with.  Most of my music is wav files ripped from my cds -with a few flacs also ripped from recent cd purchases. All those seem to play just fine (including the play screen...

    New WESTONE W-SERIES

Thanks to Spyro for replying to my query re the 2 Westone cables.  I received my W20's this am.  Very very pleased - both with the sound - but especially the fit. With my particular size of silicon tips ( which I prefer to "foams") they feel as if I could wear them all day - or - "hardly know...

    DX90. 2X Sabre,1st page: Downloads, info&inst. . ! Lurker0 FW Mod link 1st page !!. .NEW FW! 2.3.0 . . . . .

Hi all. New DX90 owner here.  Got myself a couple of spare Anker batteries to cope with the not very great battery life of the DX90 ( Though very pleased with it otherwise!)  A minor problem I had ( and obviously it's not earth shattering!) was the difficulty of physically getting a battery out...

FiiO X5 2nd gen Impressions and Discussion thread

Hi all. Newbie but long time lurker here. Just received mine. Ordered from amazonuk last week. Very impressive delivery speed! Just loading up a 128gb SanDisk card. But briefly tried a smaller card with a couple of my favourite Zappa albums.  Seems plenty of power to drive my senns hd25. Though...

Recabled phones - can "balance" be affected?

Many thanks Tom!!    That kindof makes sense ( to me - being very much a noob in these matters)  I'm going to have another go at this tomorrow.  ( though the wire length of the phones is getting shorter and shorter with each botched attempt!! Still - i've got a couple of "extension" cables I can...

Recabled phones - can "balance" be affected?

Hi all   Well - I'm more confused than before!   I should have said at the start that the "new plug I was using simply had red plus white plus "copper"(ground?) wires................BUT the superfi phone end seemed to have FIVE wires!!   A red plus a white - which I connected to the red and...

Recabled phones - can "balance" be affected?

Hi Kalinowski Thanks also to you for replying. The (new) plug end had pvc insulation which I cut back quite easily. But the superfi wires were the "painted" insulation types. I initially tried "scraping" the insulation off with a fine blade - but I then tried to "burn" off by holding the wires...

Recabled phones - can "balance" be affected?

Hi Gimble   Thanks for replying - appreciate your time & trouble. Your "same length" and "good solder" points make sense!   I'm going to give the thing another go next weekend with a different "plug and end" - one which matches the wires on the superfis better!   Regards

Recabled phones - can "balance" be affected?

Hi all I'm a noob/novice to this diy forum - hope this isnt a stupid question - appreciate a quick bit of advice. Had an old pair of Superfi 5 phones with intermittent left channel/ cable break near plug end etc. Decided to attempt diy fix. Cut  plug off - found working set of cheapish buds...

    Hiss in Sony A818?

I know that there's so many variables at work here - the player, the phones ( and sometimes amps/interconnects) and (maybe crucially) your EARS!!! BUT - as a fairly addicted Sony fan - I'd have to say that the X1060 is the best sounding player I've ever heard. ( and I can also add Zens,Nanos and...

    E5/T4/Penguin picture and thoughts

Hi tstarn06 The T4 is amazing!! The size is astounding - the sound (IMHO) very nice to my ears. But of course this whole amp/LOD/phones/ears game is dependent on so many variables - not least one's own hearing and tastes!! I just think that for the price this is a great piece of kit...

    E5/T4/Penguin picture and thoughts

Hi all Hope this works - am uploading a picture of my 3 rigs - not boasting or anything(!) - first time I've tried to include a picture -- just want to give some feedback by way of thanks to all who have given me good information over a few years on this forum. I'll try and keep this...

Fiio E5 - is it hissy?

As others say - depends on set-up. With my UE superfi 5's and 5pros - yes - some hiss at higher volumes. I switch to Ety's ( also Senn HD25 cans) and --no - no hiss I can hear! For the price point I'm very happy with the E5. Regards.

    ety filters or silk stockings?

Hi EFN I think I understand what you mean!! (appreciate the time and trouble too) I can see that both length and diameter of the sound "tube" will affect what you hear - as indeed will various types (and size) of filters. So far I havent actually tried any of the mods. (this weekend for...

    ety filters or silk stockings?

Hi EFN INTERESTING!!!!!! Another alternative to the "silk stocking"mod. The way you describe it (just deep enough in the tube etc ) made me think there might be a danger of pushing the "filter material" too far down the "tube" of the phone itself?? But did you actually mean you take a "filter"...

    Super.fi 5 (regular, not pro)

I've got both the Pro's as well as the "non-pros". For me the sound isnt quite as good on the new ones - the bass isnt as full - BUT for me personally the fit and comfort is so much better. I used to only use the pros very sparingly. After say 30 mins I'd be taking them out to give my ears a...
