Review by 'cs098' on item 'Skullcandy Aviator Headphone Black, One Size'

To be honest I’m usually a bit iffy about mainstream headphone. Not because they are inherently worse than their audiophile counterparts or are overpriced (case in point, the headphone I’m reviewing today) , but I generally don’t like the styling and typical sound signatures of such headphones...

the problem with universal iems is that there will always be a few kinds of ear shapes an universal iem can't fit into. It's impossible to achieve such a feat since there are so many different kinds of ear shapes. For the people that rate these highly they don't really get the flaws you get...

Aw, I was about to finish my review of the t90s, now I have to wait a little while before posting it.   Fyi, my impressions are pretty similar to yours, but I find the mids to be neutral at best and a bit thin at worst depending on the source and with a fiio bass boost you can bring the out bass...

Tbf, I did suffer from the best toy syndrome, meaning the 845s were the best headphones I tried extensively and had nothing better to compare it to, skewing my review. In hindsight, I definitely agree with your Bluetooth sound review, and would lower the score a bit in comparison the the new...

I agree that via bt it lacks a bit of bass punch and treble, and is a bit flat sounding. But everything is pretty much fixed if you use a good warm mid and bass centric amp like a fiio. Though that does defeat the purpose of having bt. Needless to say I moved on to something else, when I...

I have the hd 650 now, and its polite nature makes it good for relaxing music. I do wish it was more aggressive sometimes but atleast unlike the grado, it's very good at everything I throw at it IMO.

*note this is actually a rs2e review* Shame head fi doesn't have a product page for it*     Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure this is the cheapest wood headphone you can buy (well maybe the OG rs2). And it's beautiful. But does it sound as good as it looks?  TLDR: Yes it does, but not for...

have you tried removing the foam? That might brighten the sound a bit. Made it more balanced for me.   As nice as the 650 sounds, sometime I miss the sparkle other cans have.

Agreed here, I quite like the sound coming out of these cans, still for the price, I think you pay a tad too much for it. And it sounds a bit closed in. Still thoough you kinda made me regreatt not aduutioning these cans for longer.

I think just because you have a dac/amp that's good enough to power it, doesn't mean it will sound good. While the dragonfly is a great dac, you also have to account for synergy as well. Pair a bright dac with a bright headphone for example and it won't sound that good.

I demoed a few bt headphones, but nothing extensive enough to write a full comparison about. But for a quick audition these do sound better than the ziks and the sony mdr-10rbt.

Review by 'cs098' on item 'AKG K845 Bluetooth Over-Ear Headphones'

Take the well received Akg K545, and add 50 dollars for a mic, amp, nfc, battery and Bluetooth capability. Is it worth it? TLDR, if you don’t have an amp and/or want bluetooth, put this in your top three to consider at the 200 - 300 dollar price point. So in short, yes.   Unboxing Pros...

If you want better bass, but also want the mids, then try the semi open 240s. Bigger sound stage (but imaging isn't as good) and far better bass impact and quantity.

Ha, basically what I said about the 271 mk2s.   To my ears the bass is actuality very deep and detailed. Just severely lacks impact, Trying to making it rumble with bass boosters or high volume leads to heavy distortion.  Still it's great for jazz and maybe classical, but pretty much nothing...

*note the one I have are the new perceptions not the old ones, not sure if there's a difference other than a logo change* These cans are pretty under the radar, but if you can get them for a cheap price (I paid 50 bucks CAD for these)  and you have an amp or a good dac, then they may surprise...
