    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

I drive the R70x on a heresy and modi 3 and have no issues at low gain, but my ears are pretty sensitive, others in this thread use a magni 3+ at high gain. I listen to a lot of hip-hop and play FPS games on them and the R70x are great for both. The bass is full but doesn't overpower and the...

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

Is the source connected to your Magni 3+ at 100% volume? I ask because I have a Magni Heresy paired with the R70x and I cannot go past 10-12 o'clock on low gain without it getting too loud for me. Maybe I just have sensitive ears.

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

Comfort is still as great as day one. I generally wear them 4 to 6 hours a day while working and then sometimes for a few hours more while gaming, even with thick plastic glasses these stay comfortable. I definitely do think the soundstage is a little wider with these ear pads, but that's the...

EXTERNAL SOUNDCARD/AMP/DAC recommendation for my headset

Seems like the Schiit fulla or hel would both fit your needs.

    Looking for 400i upgrade

I returned my hifiman Deva because of harsh treble and ended up with the Audio Technica ATH-R70X and absolutely love it. Super comfortable and the sound had everything I was looking for, including strong bass. Needs a lot of power, but my Magni Heresy seems to do just fine on low gain.

What's your favourite iem for around 300$

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I'm very treble sensitive, so the T800 might not be for me. Honestly I still love the M6 almost 2 years later, but I get upgrade-itis every now and again. Your explanation of the M6 pretty much matches mine, I wish the isolation were a bit better but the...

What's your favourite iem for around 300$

I see you also have the NiceHCK M6 with BGVP filters, which is my current IEM setup. How do you like the T800 compared to the M6?

Convince me the ATH-R70X aren't the best headphones ever made under $1000

I love my R70X, but haven't had that much experience with other headphones in or above the price range. I'll say they were much better to me than the Hifiman Deva I replaced them with. Definitely hard to drive, but these days I don't think it is necessarily expensive to do so. I feel like I'm...

USB DAC audio static when playing demanding games

Thanks for the suggestions NA Blur and PurpleAngel. I was able to fix the issue and explained in post #4. Have not had popping/crackling audio since then and re-introduced a less aggressive RAM OC.

USB DAC audio static when playing demanding games

I updated my BIOS, which had the unintended side-effect of resetting all of my BIOS settings including my RAM overclock, and now my audio issues are gone! Not sure if the BIOS update itself fixed the issue or if there was a problem with my RAM overclock or some other setting, but I'll slowly...

USB DAC audio static when playing demanding games

Thanks for the suggestion, hadn't even considered that. I downloaded latencymon and ran it while playing Warzone and did indeed see latency issues. I did the following things to try and alleviate them... Disabled USB selective suspend Disabled unused Realtek audio device Disabled unused Wifi...

USB DAC audio static when playing demanding games

Wondering if anyone has suggestions for the issue I'm having. I've been trying to eliminate static I hear through my USB DAC when playing demanding games on PC. When I play a game like Warzone and am in game, any voices I hear from people in Discord or from the announcer in game have a ton of...

How to convert USB to optical audio?

The Topping D10 seems to be the only other alternative to the Eitr in the price range. I was going to pick a D10 up when I also needed a USB to optical device, but ended up buying a Chromecast audio.

    Hifiman DEVA - Official Thread

I'll say that I personally found the highs harsh and ended up returning the Deva. I do have pretty sensitive ears, but even on the lowest possible volume a 30 minute listening session would leave me with ear discomfort. Ended up getting the Audio Technica R70X and paired with the same DAC/Amp...

Schiit Magni 3+ and Magni Heresy - Impressions Thread

Not sure how good a deal you got on eBay, but Schiit has a few Heresy B-Stock available if you're looking to save a few bucks.

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

What were you using to drive them before? I feel like I'm getting enough power through my Schiit Magni Heresy, but I've been getting the balanced itch ever since I got the R70x.

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

I've had my R70x for about a month now and today I replaced the stock pads with Brainwavz XL micro suede pads with cooling gel. I did not mind the stock pads, but wanted to try out larger pads to try and replicate the comfort of my AD-700, and wanted to try out the cooling gel since its finally...

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

I am a new R70X owner and agree. Using a Schiit Magni Heresy, which outputs 410mw at 300 ohms, and can comfortably use my headphones on low gain with all genres at between 10-12 o'clock volume. I personally like the un-EQ'd sound of the R70X, but was able to find a helpful EQ tool to try out. I...

Best-sounding open & closed headphones... with no EQ-ing or mods!

I can definitely see the shallowness of the cups being an issue for some. They only touch my ears at specific angles, so it hasn't been an issue for me, but I did like that my AD700s had huge earcups that my ears would not touch at any reasonable angle.

Best-sounding open & closed headphones... with no EQ-ing or mods!

I'm quite new so forgive the basic commentary, but I have found the R70x quite comfortable myself. I bought them about a week ago to replace my old ATH-AD700s and have been able to wear them through my entire workday comfortably. The pads were a bit stiff at first, but after a few days they have...

    Hifiman DEVA - Official Thread

I am relatively new to over ear headphones and recently got the Deva to replace my 7 year old Audio Technica ATH-AD700 headphones. I also purchased the Schiit Magni Heresy and Modi 3 to drive the Deva. The Deva were an immediately noticeable upgrade over my Audio Technicas, the better lows and...
