Looking for a few alpha testers...
Hi all, long time no see! I'm looking for a few (<7 or 8) testers for a very, very simple Visual Basic program that does nothing useful ATM, but I need to determine a few things about MSIE 7. Requirements: MSIE 7 installed, on any version of Windows. Program: All it does (or SHOULD do)...- fewtch

Somebody got a heck of a deal...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=230016292543 Dang... for about the price of a CD, they got a great sounding player. Wish I'd been paying closer attention, my PC's been shut off most of the day today. Wouldn't have minded an extra player as a backup.- fewtch

Good A/B Switchbox (?)
I think I may have actually found an inexpensive but good A/B switchbox (finally): http://www.garage-a-records.com/preamp.html Scroll down to where it says "Low Noise Phono Switch." Looks like it would work fine for two CD players as well. Just thought I'd let people know about this...- fewtch

FS: Beyerdynamic DT250-80
*** Sale Suspended (see most recent post) *** FS: Beyerdynamic DT250-80 in excellent condition (basically like new, including the pads). The box they come in is a little worn, but I'm not sure why as I acquired them in a trade from someone else. Includes owner's manual & warranty sheets...- fewtch

FS: Rotel RCD-855 CDP (minor flaw) cheap, Seattle...
FS: Rotel RCD-855 CD player (ca. 1992). Has a problem where the power-on LED goes out after it's been on awhile, and at the same time the unit stops responding to the remote control. This *does not* affect sound or other operations, just the LED and detecting remote control input. The unit is...- fewtch

Greets to the forum...
Been away from head-fi a couple weeks, and I don't anticipate posting much for awhile longer (but ya never know). I've been dealing with some depression and lifestyle issues -- basically a midlife crisis, in addition to just being a bit sick of the headphone hobby & short of funds to spend on...- fewtch

Torn between two (budget) sources...
At the moment I don't have the funds to buy a new source, so I'm stuck between these two: (1) Toshiba SD-3980 DVD player. Excellent PRaT and bass/treble extension, good resolution but *very poor* transparency and background blackness, poor front panel readout (displays only track number)...- fewtch

Budgeting for the K701...
How much are you guys paying *shipped* for your K701s? Around $350? And where did you get 'em? I currently own a K501 and Beyer DT250-80, both in excellent condition. Best case I could get $120 for the DT250 and $100 for the K501, which would bring me to $220. That would leave me around $130...- fewtch

Extremely catchy songs...
About once every 10 years or so I watch the movie "West Side Story," and today happened to be the day I got in the mood. OMG though, the music in that film is so catchy it's evil. Right now the song "Tonight" is going through my head over & over, and I think the music will still be haunting me a... -
FS: PCDP stand
Hi Guys, I'd really like to sell the Kenwood PCDP stand I won on eBay awhile back -- thread here: http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=152842 My problem is, I don't know what to charge for it. I didn't pay much, but only because I really lucked out and nobody else bid --...- fewtch

FS: 75-ohm adapter cable
FS: Custom made 75-ohm adapter cable... uses Vishay-Dale resistors, has 1/8" female jack on one end and (straight) Neutrik 1/8" male miniplug on the other. This cable is not that "high end," so it may be more appropriate for Koss 60-ohm headphones (KSC35/75/Portapro etc. to help clean up...- fewtch

Simple A/B Switchbox...
A couple years I did a search and couldn't find a single high quality A/B type switchbox online (two sources to one output, or vice-versa)... lots of cheapo audio/video switchers with dubious sound quality, but *nothing* that looked any good. Any tips?- fewtch

Vintage CDPs selling for too much?
Been browsing the vintage CDPs on eBay, and it seems to me many of them are selling for too much. Adcom GCD-575 for $215.51, Rotel RCD-975 for $224.50, to name a couple. I don't get why these players are going for over $200... we're talking early 90s players and in some cases (like the Adcom)...- fewtch

Remote control for vintage gear
Just wanted to recommend the universal remote I picked up for my Rotel RCD-855: Radio Shack catalog number 15-1908 (5-in-one). Great remote because (A) it controls a pile of vintage gear including CD players and amps/tuners, (B) it's documented online, (C) it takes 4 "AAA" batteries and is...- fewtch

DT-880 comfort appreciation thread
After awhile, I completely forget they're on my head -- enough said. P.S. I really don't understand the gripes of a few about the weight of the headband pressing on the head. I wear my hair very short, and have no issues whatsoever. I just don't feel the pressure at all (seems perfectly...- fewtch

Best "new age" album ever?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004LMKX/ I am in love with this CD (Chris Spheeris, "Dancing with the Muse") -- for those into this genre of music at all, you owe it to yourself to pick up a copy. I've listened to it dozens or hundreds of times and never get sick of it. IMO... -
Critical vs. discerning ears...
Been contemplating the difference between discerning and critical ears lately. One of the problems I have labeling myself an "audiophile" is that it seems too many go out of their way to find as many flaws in a piece of gear as possible, as if the sound quality of the gear consisted of the sum...- fewtch

Audio dislikes, good and bad...
I've found that for me, when I dislike a piece of gear there's a "good kind" of dislike, and a "bad kind." The good basically means that I stick with it anyway, on a strong hunch that I will come to appreciate the strengths of the gear enough to forgive its weaknesses. An example of "good...- fewtch

Putting OPA627 into Pimeta ground channel..
I just received an OPA627, and (not really being a DIYer) am not sure how to put it into the ground channel socket. Do I line up the notch on the chip with the notch on the socket? If I put it in wrong would it fry just the chip, or could it take out the whole amp? Thnx...- fewtch

Hyperion - audiophile label?
I'm not very familiar with 'audiophile' labels, and most of my recordings are just ordinary ones. The other day I checked out a copy of Bach's Keyboard Concertos from the library and wow... the sound quality is just amazing on this recording. Any idea if this label tends to put out better than... -
All this pretzel nonsense...
Lately people have started spamming threads with some in-joke about pretzels. I find it extremely annoying, and an attempt to derail threads whenever a certain few people (always the same folks BTW) believe they're no longer useful. I think this practice should be banned... it's not funny at...- fewtch
