Onkyo DP-CMX1 GRANBEAT | Dual Dac | Balanced | Phone DAP

DP-X1 was always fine with a receiver or car audio, but it was unusable with my Momentum Wireless whilst walking & placed in my jeans or coat pockets, kept cutting out every 5 seconds, hope this will be much stronger.

Onkyo DP-CMX1 GRANBEAT | Dual Dac | Balanced | Phone DAP

I am soon to be receiving one of these wonderful devices, which I am not using as a phone but ,as a replacement for my DP-X1 which needs to go to Romi Audio for repairs & then I will probably sell anyway. So I must ask, how is the Bluetooth on the Granbeat, is it stronger than the terrible...

    ONKYO DP-X1 | Dual Sabre Dacs | Balanced | Sabre BTL Amp | MQA | DSD 256 | Android 5 |

After 3 years of loyal service, my balanced jack broke last month. Not too much of a problem, I used the single ended jack. Now that's dying as well. Bluetooth isn't strong on this device when used on the go, so I've settled for using the USB audio out into my Momentum Wireless, which is fine...

    JDS Labs Element

Given that the O2+ODAC will drive the HD600 to ear bleeding levels anyway, is there any meaningfl advantage to be had from trading up to the Element, if I'm not going to be buying any 600 Ohm Beyers?

    ONKYO DP-X1 | Dual Sabre Dacs | Balanced | Sabre BTL Amp | MQA | DSD 256 | Android 5 |

The Lock Range adjustment and Digital filters are applied at the Sabre DAC level and they definitely affect the sound of Spotify and Tidal. So streaming is certainly processed properly. Also, theres a jump if you change te settings whist Streaming. QED.

    ONKYO DP-X1 | Dual Sabre Dacs | Balanced | Sabre BTL Amp | MQA | DSD 256 | Android 5 |

Thanks, that's fascinating! I did see a filter waveform graph in the brochure now I think of it! Short is the minimal setting.

    ONKYO DP-X1 | Dual Sabre Dacs | Balanced | Sabre BTL Amp | MQA | DSD 256 | Android 5 |

I'm very glad Onkyo put the adjustable DAC on this. Sharp is horribly sibilant through my T1p's, "Short" massively decreased that and adds body without taking away from upper-treble sparkle.I wonder how?

Review by 'theminstrel' on item 'Denon AH-D600'

A great purchase for under 180 pounds, these headphones blow the direct competition away when it comes to almost everything. They arrive in a nice premium package with a thick, high grade cable for home usage and a smaller one with microphone for portable usage. They are very large and do look...

Review by 'theminstrel' on item 'Sennheiser HD 598'

A reasonably priced pair of premium Open back headphones. They are well made and super comfortable and have a luxurious appearance well suited to home hi fi use. Unlike other hi fidelity phones they have a relatively low impedance and don't need a huge amp to sound good or loud, although one...

I got them for £145 which is now $180, on the website www.accessoryjack.com/, however the sterling is much weaker than it was two years ago so they are now £182

Review by 'theminstrel' on item 'Audio-Technica ATH-M50x'

These headphones are much recommended online as a relatively cheap introduction into the world of high fidelity. They are functional and do not excessively grab attention visually. They are extremely comfortable and adjustable for all head sizes and shapes, the build quality is top notch and...

Review by 'theminstrel' on item 'FiiO E17'

A very good DAC and headphone AMP for the price. A clear improvement in sound quality from my laptop for headphones, even ones that already sounded good, this gives a much cleaner, clearer and more powerful signal in all frequency ranges. Works very will with my Samsung Galaxy and Sony Walkman...

Review by 'theminstrel' on item 'Sony NWZ-A15 Walkman Video MP3 Player (16GB) - Black'

This is my first really good quality Digital Audio Player. I have used a range of Audiophile headphones on it. If you're used to digital Sony Walkmans of days gone by you will recognize the simple, efficient, responsive user interface (a pleasure to use), and appreciate the range of different...

Review by 'theminstrel' on item 'AUDIO TECHNICA ATH-MSR7'

My favorite pair of headphones, and considering I own the Sennheiser HD598s, that is saying something. They look fantastic, very stylish indeed, they are extremely comfortable, infact the ear pads are quite heavenly, although the headband is prone to heating up a bit and could be a little bit...

Review by 'theminstrel' on item 'Shure SRH750 DJ Headphones (Black)'

These are okay headphones if you can get them for a cheap price (sub £90 ) but probably aren't worth any more than that. Their build quality is solid, despite all the plastic used, and they can be used for both portable, professional and home audio as they have a low impedance, although I have...

Review by 'theminstrel' on item 'Sennheiser HD 449 Headphones'

I purchased these as my first "Audiophile headphones" a couple of years ago, and have since purchased better pairs. The good news is that they still work perfectly. They are lightweight, comfortable and not as flimsy as they feel, however for people with larger ears they will not fully fit and...
