    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

Mine as well. I may be in the minority judging by the number of complaints I've seen about the super-bright LEDs on previous models, but I am actually not a big fan of the new light-piped LEDs for this reason. I would rather have the old crisp, but scorching lights than light bleed if I had my...

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

I just got mine today as well - took FedEx almost a week to get it to Colorado for some reason, which felt almost as long as the backorder wait - but it was definitely worth it. My impressions so far are exactly as you described, MUCH less fatiguing than the D/S DAC I was using previously, but...

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

Nah, I'm guessing yours will ship by sometime next week, assuming they have enough parts in stock to fill all the backorders. I placed my order on 4/27 and it shipped today. No guarantees, but I doubt current orders will be delayed much past the 6/30 estimate they currently have up as long as...

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

For sure, Schiit customer service has been outstanding in my experience. Even through this super long, super annoying backorder delay, they've been very responsive, patient, and polite answering my status inquiries. Under normal non-pandemic circumstances, upgrade turnaround has always been...

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

I'm pretty sure this means that they hope to have Bifrost 2 in stock by June 9th, so about three weeks from now, I guess. Fingers crossed that it can be a Father's Day present to myself, depending on how many backorders deep I am.

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

I can confirm that the Bimby SE > Jot is an excellent pairing. I've found that the transparency of the Jot really makes me appreciate how good the Bimby is.   I'm not convinced there's much inherent sound quality advantage to balanced *input* on the Jot. To me, it seems like the main...

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

While I welcome this if Mike Can Find A Way™ -- even though he seems pretty adamant right now that it *can't* be done -- I will also add that the current SE Bimby is a pretty darn great pairing with the Jot. I'm running that exact configuration right now and couldn't be happier. The...

Schiit Fire and Save Matches! Bifrost Multibit is Here.

Totally agree, I'm certainly not an Apple fanboi by any means. I disagree with many of the directions they've taken over the past few years, particularly their seeming obsession with making every generation thinner for the sake of marketing. I'm just saying that in general, for a "store...

Schiit Fire and Save Matches! Bifrost Multibit is Here.

I agree that in general, "stock" Mac hardware seems to be a bit higher quality than that of a "generic" Dell / Lenovo / etc PC that you will buy in a big box store like Best Buy or Micro Center.  I think lower-end "commodity" PC hardware, combined with crapware-laden non-optimized system...

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

My $0.02 - If you already have a Bifrost, I don't see any advantage to buying Mimby over doing the multibit upgrade. All the multibit parts are going to be the same, but the Bifrost has a better power situation since there's more room to work with.   Unless you want to downsize and have a...

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

"Mimby" = Modi Multibit   "Bimby" = Bifrost Multibit   I believe all the nicknames were coined by @Baldr (aka Mike Moffat).   I am not sure if an official nickname for Jotunheim has been endorsed by Schiit Royalty yet, but we need one as I'm getting too lazy to keep typing it out!

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

I don't think there's any way for the word "gimmick" to be perceived other than negatively...I think "disruptive" is more appropriate.   Jotunheim is also a great solution for those who can't or don't want to spend multiple thousands on gear, but want to try out some high-end features to...

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Yup, this is exactly why I just broke down and ordered one....I plan to feed it from my Bimby as I can't afford a Gumby / MJ2 setup and don't really have the space on my desk, anyhow.   Plus, I like having the option to go balanced to get the extra power for headphones that can benefit, but...

    SchiitShow 2: This Changes Everything

Due to some unforeseen BullSchiit that came up, I had to cancel my flight, so I unfortunately will not be attending now....  (Hopefully Schiit will attend RMAF in October...?)   Also hoping that someone will be kind enough to live-post updates for us poor saps who are stuck outside...

    SchiitShow 2: This Changes Everything

Well...it's all pure speculation of course, but I would be very surprised if the new announcement is something that's in same price range as the Magni/Modi stack. My guess is that whatever it is will fall in the mid to high part of their product range.   That said, if you can possibly wait...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Sigh....gonna be a long month.  :)   On the upside, I love California, so whatever it is, I'm glad to have an excuse to visit.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Wait...what? Should this be taken as a "you're getting warmer" comment?   I was gonna guess "something upgradable" for the Schiit Show announcement...but that's about all I've got after ruling all the "never gonna happens" out.

    SchiitShow 2: This Changes Everything

No DAP. Jason said he wants no part of the software / UI nightmares that they require. I can't blame him for that one...

    SchiitShow 2: This Changes Everything

Personally, I would be hesitant to buy anything that's not a transducer before Aug 27...just in case.

    SchiitShow 2: This Changes Everything

I seriously doubt that, as Jason seems to have made it pretty clear that the Modi release is the only thing changing about the DACs...although on some level, I sort of hope it's something way outside my price range like the Yggy to stave off upgrade temptation!

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Yep, this is exactly my experience with my Bimby as well. The one downside I've found is that it is not forgiving with poorly mastered recordings or stuff designed to sound best on the "lowest common denominator" of equipment like portable stereos / car radios / etc. Like @bigro said though...

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)

I'm sure it's been posted many times before in other threads, but I just ran across this blog post on jitter which has a pretty interesting experiment. Assuming the samples are fairly accurate, it does put some perspective on how much "measurable" matters in practice. The jitter added here...

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)

Totally agree that the Win 8 UI was a disaster, but all of that is more or less fixed in Win 10. There's still some weird seemingly arbitrary distinction between "settings" (new) and the old "control panel" way of getting to system stuff, but there are some right-click shortcuts right off the...
