Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones

You can check these out: https://github.com/jaakkopasanen/AutoEq/blob/master/results/INDEX.md Or try my settings (based on one of the above): I use these with my iSine 10 and find them just right at the low SPL I'm used to, otherwise way too bassy. The above width values are given in octaves...

    Big-Eared People Unite!!

Oh wait, I was wrong. They do ship to where I live (and many other European places). It would only cost me € 36.5 including postage.

    Big-Eared People Unite!!

Thanks for the heads up. Much appreciated. Sadly, they only ship within the UK. And it's a pack of three different types, of which I could only use one.

    crinacle's IEM FR measurement database

If you're concerned about tonal balance, you need to lower the bass to compensate for the extra bass from the environment. If you're concerned about bass reproduction and are ready to accept some masking of other frequency ranges, then go ahead and add some extra bass.

More watts are not even useful to compensate for weak signals. It's all a matter of gain.

The boost around 2 kHz in combination with the slight dip at 3.5 kHz is the most important change for me. Without it the sibilance can be annoying and the lower treble fatiguing. I don't remember in detail how I arrived at all the other particular settings. I started by looking at the FR graph...

No, you won't notice the shrieks anymore. The isolation is that good.

Any Etymotic IEM will make you love having shrieking kids around. :)

    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

Great that there is no hiss! On the other hand I suspect an impedance mismatch when driving SE846 with an iPhone SE. The combination of a (relatively) high impedance source with a low-impedance IEM can impact the sound severely. To get rid of that you need to use either an amp or another source...

Hi-Res Audio, DSD and placebo effect??

Of course it could. But it won't, unless it can be sold at a higher price. A "higher quality" data format is easier to sell (bigger numbers, you know) than a (rather intangible) higher quality mastering. Even though that "higher quality" can only be experienced in the form of wasted storage...
  21. headdict

Hi-Res Audio, DSD and placebo effect??

The rest is not necessarily placebo. The DSD version of a recording can be made to sound better than their 16/44.1 equivalents via better mastering.

    Objectivists board room

It all depends on marketing. Some audiophiles will be happy to drive their supersensitive IEMs with 500W speaker amps, if they are given a cable that enables them to do so. It's also intuitive that a high resistance cable has to come at a high price. High resistance = high price = high fidelity...

    Objectivists board room

I meant to say that a cable with high enough resistance won't make much (audible) difference compared to no cable at all.
  24. headdict

    Objectivists board room

That's oversimplified. The difference approximates 0% as the cable's resistance increases.

    Objectivists board room

I'm not the one who made that general statement, so I don't know exactly what was meant by that. I simply responded to your statement that "iSines are open back and doesn't require a tight seal from the tip".
