    Monoprice Monolith M565 immpresions

The m1060 is a nice warm tone but the m565 was just all mid and upper bass to me, terrible treble. I may have gotten a off unit like you said. My 1060's don't have the ringing like a few others do so as a company they clearly have to work on quality control. Maybe I'll give the 565 another...

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones

It had a "new" smell but nothing that was at the level that I felt it needed to be dealt with. Wasn't a wood stain aroma or anything. Smelled like every other new headphone I have purchased.

Which is the best headphone you have (or have tried) in terms of price/quality ratio?

Beyerdynamic DT 880, $150-200?!? I mean you just can't touch that. Monoprice m1060 is a close second.

Changing to a vegan pad or any velour or hybrid pad is also a great way to kill some of the bass.... One of the headphones best features, I could never hear the ringing so I kept the stock pads and they are very comfortable. I often wear them for 4 hour stretches with no pain.

removing the smell of smoke from headphones?

Cigarette smoke is a terrible smell, I for one never saw the appeal. Now cigars are a different story, smoke 3 or so a day but they smell wonderful:)

Hifiman Sundara (HE400i upgraded, around $500)

what makes this review not reputable, just don't understand that way of thinking. Both Tyll and this reviewer have different ears than you. Frankly I think this review gives you as much useful information as any review can. After that it is just how they sound to you.

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones

I don't look at measurements for anything I buy, headphones or otherwise. I'm more of a ear guy. But I know some people really like those so to each their own. I just hope people don't miss out on a great headphone or fax because the measurement looked bad.

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones

Maybe that is why it works so good for me. I listen to virtually no electronic music, hip hop or much of anything recorded within the last 30 years except for a few select artists. About 90% of my listening is Grateful Dead and related bands. So it is mostly live soundboards and such. So...

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones

Maybe but there is either some unit variation or something with the ringing, I have had them for a couple months and have never heard it. I have pretty good ears and can hear up to 18.5hz. To me they are a smooth balanced headphone, my pair is anyway. Smooth but detailed but present treble...

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones

Night and day difference for me. I have had the 1060s for a while and I love them... They are stock because I loved how they sounded so I didn't want to mess with it. They keep getting better and better. I ordered the 565 after it came out for another portable option to go along with my...

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

I agree, I do not have a brick and mortar in my area either. I have to rely on Amazon's return policy if I don't like them, which sucks because like you said it takes a while before you really know. That said if I plan on buying a headphone I still read and watch reviews, I just find that a...

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

I think the big point when watching reviews to look for is anything wrong with the build quality. The main thing with headphones is only you have your ears so try stuff for yourself and don't worry about what others say no matter how respected of a opinion they have.

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones

People saying it is rolled off or veiled must have different headphones then I got.... I don't know how consistent they are unit to unit but I can hear up to a little over 18k and these don't sound rolled off or veiled to me at all.

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones

Take it all with a grain of salt... I personally love the stock M1060. I listen to Grateful Dead soundboards and other assorted music, everything from Van Morrison to G Love and the Special Sauce. It is all about your preference. Keep in mind the M1060 has a 30 day money back k guarantee...

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones

My Beyerdynamic DT880 and Philips Fidelio L2 complement my m1060 quite well. They all get even head time while my other headphones sit there all lonely

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones

No need to look for it, it doesn't seem to affect all units... Most reviewers didn't notice a thing. I haven't noticed it either, no need to worry about that something that may or may not exist. Happy listening!

    Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

I would look into the Philips Fidelio L2, great headphones! Not harsh at all and deep bass, but everything is crystal clear without being harsh. Very good imaging and separation and not muddy at all. Popped into my head as soon as I read what you are looking for.

That headphone is on my want list. I'm curious where you are getting it for $150!?!? I've wanted it but the price tag/reviews have kept me away, 150 is a no brainer though!

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

The DT 880 and Monoprice m1060 are basically 1a and 1b... I was going back and forth on that one. Truth be told I really love all my headphones, for instance today I've been using the AKG k240 and Sennheiser HD598 all day. Thanks for the recommendation! I will look into it, I've never...

Ya, when I have the DT880s on or any of my headphones on for that matter it is to enjoy the music, not try to dissect it!

    65+ Headphones, 7 DAC/Amps & 1 persons opinion. Oh my!

Wow, that was quite the read! Really cool to see the comparisons of that many headphones. I agree with you on the M1060, my most listened to headphone at the moment. I just can't get enough of these. I tend to agree with you on the comparison part with the M1060. I think if it wasn't...

Need a short review for HD599 (Just how they sound)

I can not review them for you. But I can answer your second question, the reason there are not a lot of reviews for them is that they were not released last year. The hd598 has been around for quite some time so naturally it is going to have a lot more reviews.
