I have a very similar story, if you decided Grado is something you like, I would recommend looking into RS2e, preowned you can pick one up for couple hundred. Much more mature sound when comparing to 325 or Hemp IMHO

New S12 Pro cable is just as functional and better in my opinion. Also, S12 has much more controlled lower bass than HookX, though HookX sub base feels more present. I think, they may have changed the tunning slightly. Both are solid choices though.
