Robert has a point, I've never heard the MKI but I do have a HA-6A which is said to be better at background noise than the MKI. I was expecting my MKII to be worse than my HA-6A and to my modest surprise it's actually better, it's quieter and seems to handle tube noise better than the HA-6A...

Oh and the MKII besides being black (which looks awesome btw) has a vastly superior volume knob, the most annoying thing about my HA-6A to me is the lower number of steps, like a breath of fresh air when using my HA-300 MKII's volume control in comparison.

That's a interesting idea, do you think it's something that could benefit the ZMF Caldera? (lower power requirement than those two) Would a 4 pin XLR input work on this adapter? (my main cable is 4 pin).

My advice would be to still look into your DAC if its preferable from one output over the other, you could be leaving some free performance on the table.
