Sennheiser IE80 vs Fender FXA5 Pro vs RHA MA750

They're good but only slightly better than my RHAs. In the end I decided to sell them and stick with my RHAs, thanks to everyone who helped, though.

    Etymotic HF5/HF2 Vs. RHA MA750

the tips supplied with the MA750s are pretty bad... I suggest Comply foam Sport tips, the medium size should work for you. Silicone tips idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

best IEMs for <$300 (better than SE535)?

If you don't like them long term and decide to send them back I seriously suggest just re-shelling your old Shure SE535s (assuming it isn't the driver that's damaged). Considering the SE535s are $500 IEMs you would get a much better experience from re-shelled SE535s than buying a new pair of...

Need a amp+dac or sound card

I'm glad to hear I was of help. On the topic of virtual sound, it is a complete gimmick. Usually surround causes a serious decrease in sound quality (not all the time though). It can be useful, but tends to cause more confusion than it helps. Usually a better pair of headphones with good...

Need a amp+dac or sound card

Upgrading your amp/DAC (usually) greatly increases SQ from my experience. Consider looking at some stuff from Schiit (Magni + modi combo works wonders for the price). IMO you should avoid sound cards. It's better to take anything audio-related outside of the computer in order to avoid EMI/RFI...

best IEMs for <$300 (better than SE535)?

Sorry I don't have much to add to this conversation, but would just like to put in my thoughts about the sound of the IE80s. The IE80s have a significant burn in time (100 hours is usually sufficient) and sound pretty bad if you don't let them burn in and get used to them (many people find new...

    Help recommend a new iem

Really? I personally upgraded from MA750s to IE80s and they have significantly more bass (sub-bass at least). Especially if turn up the little bass knob on them. Though I do agree they are great at classical, symphony, etc. (Jazz sounds amazing on them).

    which earphone?!

I personally don't know enough about the other options you list, sorry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It may be worth telling people your general region in order to understand pricing better. It'll be difficult for people to make suggestions without knowing where you live and thus how much they would cost

Help with recommendations for a desktop audio player (windows).

Winamp and Foobar2000 are both good options. I personally use winamp because I like the UI a lot (more than Foobar's) while doing all the technical stuff right as well.

Yeah, that was the one problem I had with the bass of the MA750s. I am assuming by "deep" you mean low on sub-bass, which the MA750s are. The MA750's strong points are tightness, and the mid-bass and upper bass quality/levels, which the MA750s sacrifice sub-bass to get. Personally I like that...

    which earphone?!

If you can push up your budget a bit, I vote RHA MA750s (your pick of with or without mic). These things are my babies. Tight and punchy bass that's moderately loud but not overbearing, clean (if ever so slightly recessed) mids, and a creamy treble range which can get slightly sibilant at times...

    Help recommend a new iem

I personally don't, though there may be some other reviews out there that compare the two. Personally I would go with the RHAs between the RHAs and the PMVs since I see more reliable reviews and they're from a very trustworthy manufacturer, but that's just me. I don't care really if someone gets...

As a follow-up to my previous post, you should also take a look at Etymotic's IEM lineup (HF series specifically). If you want a more analytical, reference sound then IMO Etymotic's are the way to go from my experience, though this should be taken with a grain of salt as I didn't own a pair...

    Help recommend a new iem

As noted in a previous post, the "i" version has a microphone while the other doesn't. However, something worth noting is that it only works with iPhone, so if you have an Android phone much of the in-line control functionality won't work without an adapter. On the topic of recommendations, I...

Soundstage question re: Apple iPod earbuds

Oh I see what you're saying. I personally don't know how to explain "width" and directionality without a physical example to explain it with. :/ The best I can really do to explain it would be the more width there is the further apart the instruments sound from each other (not entirely sure...

Soundstage question re: Apple iPod earbuds

Ooooh. That's a slightly different mix but it is still there; you're right, in that mix it's panned about 50% to the right. I was referring to the mix from the album Oracular Spectacular, where it's panned full right, it sounds slightly different and is more likely to get lost in everything else...

Sennheiser IE80 vs Fender FXA5 Pro vs RHA MA750

I decided to go with the Sennheisers and see how they do long term. Depending how they sound after being burnt in I'll either keep them or sell them and buy a different pair. Thanks everyone for all your advice.

    Need Help Chosing New IEMs

I decided to go with the Sennheiser IE80s. I personally felt that the other IEMs I tried didn't fit what I wanted as well as the Sennheisers and I couldn't find enough information on the FXA5s or T20s or anywhere to try them, so I decided not to take the risk. Thanks to everyone who helped me to...

Soundstage question re: Apple iPod earbuds

Hmm, weird. On the topic of the synth, it's running in the background purely in the right audio channel relatively quietly for the majority of the song. In hindsight, this track is a better example of separation than it is soundstage, but since the two go hand-in-hand was why i suggested it...
