I think the amp/speaker interaction is critical. B&Ws are usually bright leaning and didn't pair well with bright amps. A friend runs a store just outside Pittsburgh and used to put B&W with NAD as they were his 'budget' option when he first started. I never really liked any one of those...

Mine sound very good on low gain with the Schiit Valhalla 2, which is an OTL tube amp, and the Schiit Vali 3

So, has anyone tried the ZMF Focal pads? I have some of the ZMF Beyerdynamic fenestrated pads and a cheap adapter I got from eBay that sound nice, wondering if it would be better with the actual pads he designed for Focal. That combination sounds really nice with a Schiit Vali 3 and a GE5670W tube.

So, the WE396A is best with the Hifiman Arya and HE6SEV2, but the GE5670W really works with the Focal Elex.

I tried it as a laugh. Yes it's on high gain and most of the way up on the volume, but it sure does sound good.

I even have the Bifrost 2/64 as well!

Ok, so I switched to the Arya. That plus the Vali 3 and the WE396A is stunning. It took me 20 seconds to realize this was my current favorite. Can recommend the debut album by Mansun. I have a horrible feeling I need to get a Vali 3 + WE396A for the office now as well.

iFi Zen Stream > BF2/64 > Vali 3 with 1955 WE396A > Hifiman HE6SEV2. Got to say, this is very good. A small, but significant step up from the GE5670W. Which is still amazing and might be my daily driver. And yes, it drives the HE6SEV2. Percussion is amazing with this setup. Correction...

So, having used the cheap Audeze style headband from Alibaba and having got frustrated with the feel, I splashed out on the HE400i band from Hifiman. More comfortable and easy to for change once you pop the threaded inserts out of the holes.

So for a laugh I tried it the Hifiman HE6SEV2. I normally only use the Jotunheim 2 for these in balanced mode as they need some juice. Not sure if it is the 100V rails and I'm admittedly at about 3 o'clock on the dial, but, seems to handle them without any issues.

So.... Well Schiit. Jason has done something special here. Enjoying I have thrown at it with the GE 5670 5-STAR 3 Mica Black Plate is wonderful. Everything I've played on them with the Arya Stealth is engaging and wonderful. Need to try some other headphones out later.

So, Vali 3 came today. As did the GE 5670 5-STAR 3 Mica Black Plate. Out of the box, with the stock tube and hooked up to Bifrost 2/64 into my Arya Stealth, got to say, very impressed. Letting it cool down to try the GE tube.
